I was at the gym today and two NOPD officers we’re working out on a machine near me. One said in her district (she didn’t say which one) there were five people including rank on the night watch. So I’m assuming three to four police for an entire district.
They were also against mandatory overtime and said if they were forced to work OT that they would likely quit.
Kinda scary stuff when you think about it.

The PANO President said at the City Council meeting that at any given time there are between 3-5 officers in the field working per district because they are that short staffed.

The council meeting today at least showed there are a set of people in charge that are willing to do something, anything.

Now, whether that amounts to anything is a different story.

That is a pretty big shift from previous councils.

There are a few who would like to make a name for themselves and are in a position to lean on Cantrell now that she doesn't have leverage on them.

shite was said today that was unthinkable a year ago before elections

You think that’s bad? In the mid 90’s it was routine to have one patrol car on the westbank of Orleans Parish.

I leave mine running, but I enabled police mode on my truck. When I get out with the key fob it will not go out of park until it detects the key fob is back in the truck. Not much going to blow up at the diesel pump, and you could be your arse I would hose a MF down with diesel in a heartbeat. I am not drawing over a truck, unless I have to, but that MF is going to stink for at least a week though.

I don’t know why anyone puts up with this crap. You shouldn’t have to be that worried about being carjacked, mugged, or shot. I’d seriously consider selling and moving to Jefferson Parish or the north shore if this happened to me or someone in my family.

You have to move out of Louisiana.

It's nuts how dogshit this state is.

Will we start seeing companies providing better security to protect its customers?

Possibly. We already have armed security for more affluent neighborhoods.

The middle and lower classes are being sold a bill of goods. Sure, crime affects the affluent, but not nearly at the same rate, and when things get bad, the rich just have a bunch of former Israeli special forces repel in and provide security.

That actually happened. In NOLA.

Really boggles the mind how in the year 2022 there are middle aged adults who are only just now coming to the conclusion that New Orleans is an unsafe shithole.

I guess better late than never.

The Nola residents voted for this.

I mean I didn’t, me and like the few thousand people that voted for anybody but Cantrell.

The people of New Orleans and Baton Rouge voted for losers. They no longer have the right to complain about their bad decision. I don’t care if both cities burn.
