The Judges according to them are just as big of a problem as Jason Williams is.
Look there are some bad Judges but you can't put this all on the Judicial system because state law requires that a defendant have the right to a speedy trial under Article 701 of Louisiana's Code of Civil Procedure.
Such detention is limited to 45 days for a misdemeanor, 60 days for most felonies, and 120 days for offenses punishable by death or mandatory life in prison. Only murder and first-degree rape cases fall under the latter category of 120 days.
If an accused person reaches the end of the prescribed 701 period and still has not been charged in a district attorney's bill of information or a grand jury indictment, the suspect is to be released without bail to await the disposition of allegations. Exceptions are made in rare cases in which prosecutors can show a judge just cause for a delayed charging decision.
People are listening to this idiot Moreno who is providing bad information out there to take the heat off of her DA friend Jason Williams who she helped get elected.
The Magistrate Judges are following the law and they are trying to paint the narrative that crime is out of control because they are setting low bails or no bail when in fact its the NOPD officers who can't fill out a proper bill of charging statement, the DA who is too lazy to read the charging statement, and the public who have lost all confidence in coming forward as a witness because the first two are so dysfunctional.
