Why did the nurse at OLOL try to kill him?

It wasn't a nurse. It was a shite stain thug that went to the hospital with the intent of killing him. Read my post above yours.

You'd think the union that police officers are enrolled in would take care of these expenses.
Especially after reg health ins pays what it pays

such a sad situation this family has had to endure.

I wish they would do another Jambalaya cook for him to help with things. I know the others have gone really well, monetary wise.

If that's the case, I'm shocked they have been able to keep it quiet until now.

Of all the frankly dumb shite our taxes pay for, how the hell isn't this one of them? He was shot in the line of duty and is having bill collectors calling, yet some moron who refuses to get a job gets money deposited every month on a Purchase Card (obviously there are people in need, but there are definitely people who abuse the system). Disgusting.

Makes no sense.

Seeing your signature and being reminded of who does get Medicaid while Nick's parents struggle with this really pisses me off. He did the real work in the community, not some made up work that he whined about while getting handouts and asking for salt lamps.
He is MUCH more deserving of assistance than she is. Our government makes NO SENSE.

If deputies formed a union, then their union probably would. But sheriffs don’t allow those

Such a sad frustrating situation. It sounds like this family could use support from people who know how to navigate in the world of medical insurance claims. They sound so overwhelmed.

Any OT experts in the medical/insurance field willing to donate their time and knowledge to this great man and his family? How about any architects who can donate their talents in designing an ADA approved home?

Family might consider sending this information to local newspaper editors.

GoFundMe seems to be getting some traction this morning.
Amiri King shared it on FB, his followers are showing up.
Hopefully it keeps going that way. I cant imagine what his life is going to be like going forward, but his family is very dedicated to his care.

Everyone wants to blame the insurance companies every step of the way. Ridiculous, are they supposed to pay inflated medical bills forever until they go bankrupt. How would a single payer make anything better, unethical medical professionals would just bleed it dry. Do y'all not see all the false claims that come from Medicaid. This is a horrible situation that many families suffer from daily. I agree it lies upon the Sheriff's Office to cover medical issues but there has to be a limit right? Also if you are going to leave the entire cost in their hands than you almost have to leave the decision of pulling the plug with them as well. Hope God blesses Nick, that he is not suffering and does eventually get better or at least able to care for himself to a point.

Are they saying that an OLOL employee tried to kill him?

I thought they were talking about one of the shootings that happened while the officers were at OLOL.

If anyone knows how to help the family, please let me know.

I don’t believe he will ever be able to take care of himself, unfortunately. My family knows that I don’t want to be kept alive if my outcome might be anything like this. It is for financial reasons that I make that decision.
