WFLA reporting that North Port police are helping with a "criminal investigation" and they are assisting the FBI in today's search
Anchors made a point to say that this is the first time they've heard it termed criminal investigation, as before it was just a m8ssing person search for BL
He is no longer a "Person of Interest" it seems. The hunt is on.

Ok. So if they didn’t officially declare it was her, why didn’t they? Signs point to it and everyone here believes it’s her, so why can’t the fbi definitively say it’s her then?
You already know the answer to that. The question to you is, why can't we say we claim to know it's her? Who is it hurting to make that call based on everything we know? It's not convicting BL. It affects him or the case in no way whatsoever. But for some reason it bothers you. Yes, they are conducting an autopsy and if it is confirmed to NOT be her, guess what? We will say, damn, we were wrong. And it will have affected no one. I happen to know OJ was guilty. Guess what, the verdict came back not guilty. My claim affected OJ in no way.

Is the circumstantial evidence enough to charge him with murder at this point or do they still need more physical evidence?
I referenced earlier cases where murder convictions were obtained without a body, murder weapon, or witnesses, and the convicted are in prison. There was a case in New York in 2000.
But I'm sure the prosecution would rather finish a thorough investigation before they proceed with an indictment.

And so far, what they have told us is that it’s not confirmed.
True. But its a pretty safe bet to assume it is.
are yall gonna start this shite again...

Nah lol. I’ll believe what they find. Most likely.

So not yet sure. Got it.
There's a difference between law enforcement being totally sure, and the prosecution having enough evidence to convict. Everyone else in this thread seems to grasp that concept.

Valid. I just usually like to take in facts. That’s all.
And we don’t know it as fact yet.
Let’s move on

Don't know if already posted, but the witness's handwritten statement is here.

What other logical reason is there for the FBI leading a criminal case and search related to Brian at this time.
Originally it was a missing persons case that covered many states, when GP was simply just "missing." That gets the FBI involved in itself, at least in a small manner. Then it became a multiple missing persons case when Brian went MIA and that potentially covered many states as well.
It appears as if one of them is still missing and the other is most likely dead, so the FBI still has the reigns and will continue the investigation even after Brian is found dead or alive. They don't just hand it off to Florida Bureau of Investigation once it officially becomes a criminal case or Brian is found, especially considering the wide range here.

Yea I’ve been anxiously waiting for autopsy results. That’s SHOULD tell us a lot.
Maybe and maybe not. Her body was likely in poor condition by the time they recovered it. Barring obvious injuries, it could be a tricky determination.

Please stop derailing the thread by repeating the same argument over and over. No we don't know for sure that it's her body but we will very soon and the likelihood of it being hers is so strong that your argument is completely pointless. If it turns out not to be her you can come back and brag all you want but for now you're just ruining the thread.

There's still a possibility of an accident
Considering where the body was found, the chances of this are slim to none. Especially since it was most likely buried.

The hunt should of been on a week ago

Do you think the media presence with this case has also placed it squarely with the Feds for the foreseeable future?

They would likely need that type of stuff to get a conviction even if it’s obvious she was murdered. If he didn’t confess, then they are still required to demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that he is the one who committed the murder.
Many of the obvious sources and types of evidence have been erased by time and the fact that these two shared a van for a month.

Also has it going for him that the cops said she was at fault in the first altercation.
