Maybe, but not necessarily. Maybe there's evidence of the body being moved. Maybe they can pinpoint a time of death and correlate it to that suspicious text. We've already seen that murder convictions have been obtained without a body, weapon, or witness. Who knows? It depends on what the prosecution can get 12 people to believe.

Also has it going for him that the cops said she was at fault in the first altercation.

The actual handwritten statement by the witness doesn't corroborate that at all. The cops didn't witness anything. They formed an opinion based on what they observed and were told by the couple.
You also have the account of the park ranger who sat in the cruiser with her for an hour and a half.

I'm guessing that the results of the autopsy will be the domino that sets everything else in motion.
what if the autopsy reveals she died from brunt force trauma to the head....with no witnesses how will they determine if she was hit over the head with something or just fell and hit her head?

I'm not saying it is correct, but I'm sure he'll use that if and when this goes to court.

If there are no signs of blunt forced trauma, it's gonna be interesting

Unless she’s wearing a smashed wristwatch that has both time and date on it, then you can forget about having an accurate time of death. At best, it’ll be narrowed to days versus weeks.

1. Was the body even partially buried?
2. Where is the injury on her head relative to the position the body was found in?
3. Is there any blood at the scene? That would tell if the injury occurred there or if the body was moved.
Just my opinion, but I don't think the professionals who do this for a living will have a hard time reconstructing what happened.

May or may not be possible depending on fracture pattern and what remains of the skin and soft tissue.
You can tell if someone was hit multiple times with a hammer versus a fall. You may not necessarily be able to tell someone whose head was slammed into a car door versus a fall.

By knowing the weather conditions, you'd be surprised how accurate they can be at time of death. Follow the bugs.

Expert testimony that someone of x height and weight wouldn’t fall with enough force to cause that amount of damage.

Do you think the media presence with this case has also placed it squarely with the Feds for the foreseeable future?
I'm sure that has something to do with it too, how high profile it is. But there's just so many moving pieces over so many different states and jurisdictions, it would be a nightmare for a single one of them to try to investigate it without seeking help and documentation from all involved. So, might as well keep our federal bureau over the whole thing instead of the (FL)BI or WBI or UBI, etc etc.
That's not to mention that Brian is still considered a missing person and that's FBI territory when it covers multiple states. Once he's found (if he ever is), the FBI would've done 99% of the legwork and I doubt they'd hand it off to a state agency at the tail end, it would just further complicate everything.
That's not even mentioning all the federal land involved in some of the pieces of the puzzle. Just way less complicated for the FBI to keep this one.

Maybe. Last known whereabouts was the 25th and the text was the 30th.

Thats assuming that she isn’t buried, and even then still isn’t going to be precise enough at that time interval to match up with specific text messages.

If they were at elevation this would be a better question, but it doesn't seem that they're at an area where this could become an issue. Although how forceful the trauma was will matter.

Or that it's 100% BL. We all know the chances of it not being him are astromically small but being able to actually prove it will be a lot tougher. Hopefully he really messed up somewhere. I think it's pretty likely he did considering his actions. Doesn't seem like the smartest guy. They must have confirmed that wasn't him in Tillman's Corner if they're back to searching the reserve? That may not even be true but thought I saw they went back to searching there earlier.

Yeah that's why I'm waiting for the autopsy. Blunt force is likely murder but not 100% murder. Choking is 100% murder. If both of those are ruled out then this gets even stranger

Especially if they view her in the same exalted way that I did. I still don't know why she was with that loser.
