Unvaccinated guy gets Covid and now his family wants to set up a Gofundme

An acquaintance who is staunchly against the Covid vaccine has contracted Covid and is now hospitalized on a vent. Before you ask, male, age 34, weighs approx 170lbs, 6' tall. No underlying health issues that I'm privy to(doesn't mean there aren't any). He is a vegan though, so soy boyish.
His cousin has informed me they plan on setting up a Gofundme. I think it's bullshite.
He took a chance by not getting the shot and lost that bet. Why should they now start begging for money. The stats show that even though he may have gotten Covid even with the shot, his chances of being hospitalized were much much lower.
I agree with anyone's right to choose, but don't come begging for money if you end up in a coma on a vent.

No one cares when smokers get lung cancer or when drinkers get liver cancer but now unvaccinated people getting covid is the dumbest thing that's ever happened to anyone and they deserve to die. Shut up

I’m barely in favor of him getting a hospital bed or vent, much less free money.
