I’ve worked for two global companies that I swear somehow must factor in part of the board members bonuses based on the company wide emails sent out.
Not to mention the assholes who automatically hit "respond to all" when they were clearly asked to only respond to those who needed a response.
Add in the damned chickfila fund raiser type BS and out of 100 emails maybe 20 warrant reading....

Legitimate work emails. I manage a large team in across several countries.

Absolutely there are filters than can help with the junk and filter very well. Also, there is a big difference between leaving unread e-mails in your inbox and deleting on site. It's pretty easy to tell the junk and it takes one second to delete and 5 seconds to delete your deleted items folder at the end of the day

Some of the people I work with have like 30k unread emails. I literally don't know how people live like that.

Lots of people. I constantly see people with 1000s of unread email. I had one person tell me he marked them as unread so he would know to get back to it. Yeah sure, 2000 later. Now he could spend all day just trying to find the important email. How about delete shite that isn't important. How about handle a task and remove it.

Most emails are unimportant and a complete waste of time. If you tell me that you read every email you get, then there's a strong likelihood you're not doing important tasks

People use the preview function and never open the actual email. I read them and deleted them.

I used to sit at a computer and read emails all day, while also running a fabrication shop at the same time... then i told everyone to just call my shop phone but only when its important or a timely matter, because I could hear the phone ring on the shop floor... at the end of the day i'd spend the last hour of my day reading emails and responding to the bullshite people sent... it was a good system, but frick always being tied to a screen, terminal, or email... that felt like death of my soul
