Unread work emails. How do you people function? I read all of my work emails

Some of us have real jobs and cant make time to read pointless emails.

But I'm glad you have time to read every corporate email about pride month and indigenous peoples' day

How big is the company you work for and how many emails do you get a day?
I’ve worked for two global companies that I swear somehow must factor in part of the board members bonuses based on the company wide emails sent out.

I truly don't get it. I don't have any unread emails or messages anywhere, ever, but if someone with thousands of unread personal emails just chalks it up to "well it's all spam anyway" then whatever. That can't be entirely accurate, but hey that's their choice.

But work emails...I just can't fathom going an entire day, days, or weeks and knowing there have been people in a professional business setting sending me information of some kind and just not reading it.

He is saying how do you leave it as unread. I feel the same way as the OP. If I get a corporate email I don't need to read, I archive it to get it out of my inbox. Also, if I am constantly getting emails I never read, I make a rule to auto archive.

I like to have my unread emails indicate items I need to look at.

A lot of emails are just sent out in mass more as an FYI, or you may be on an email chain that doesnt directly require your response that includes a series of back and forth.

Companies filter out a lot of spam.

I had like 40 emails when I woke up this morning and it wasn't a particularly busy morning. I try to get through as many as I can before 8 am (and that's if I don't have earlier meetings). Then I'm in meetings most of the day. I manage business segment for a global company that has just as much activity going on while I'm sleeping as I do when I'm at my desk. I get copied on A LOT of things that I don't always need to be directly addressing immediately. But at the same time, I will often have to go back and reference random conversations if they get to a certain level that requires my input, so I can't just go delete them either. Leaving them unread lets me know it's something I haven't even looked into yet.

I’ve been out on medical for two months due to ear surgery and am constantly clearing my inbox.

This. Well known within my organization that if you are going to send me something I actually need to read, you need to call me.

I read all my customer and vendor emails. Internal, you need to call me if you want my attention.
