baldona, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think means that hospitals make their entire nut on commercially insured patients. Think United, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, etc. They break even on Medicare, lose money on Medicaid, and absolutely lose their shorts on uninsured (which they call "Self Pay").
Yes. I'm far from an expert here but I have relatives in healthcare that I've had plenty of long discussions with. That was my original point. Insurance companies are a disaster because they are the only people actually keeping the medical system afloat and are not the majority of patients.
How can we expect that system to work properly? Its a losing battle.

If he was targeted, you can expect his replacement to demand even more comp plus constant security detail.

This guy wants his doctor thinking about the economic strain on the healthcare system at large when making a decision on how to treat him lmao.
You're wrong.
I want my doctor thinking about the economic strain on the healthcare system at large when making a decision on how to treat EVERYONE.

You could easily do this by requiring a $100 co-pay to be seen in the ER.
EMTALA
EMTALA just requires a person to be triaged and stabilized. It does not require you to be seen by a doctor in the ER because you have a cough.

The NP was being lazy
You said in a previous post that you supervise him/her, and you *plan to* tell the NP what to do to get the PA approved. Maybe do the supervising and training before calling someone lazy.

Don't worry...he's only an MD that lies sometimes, not all the time and only when it benefits the patient

The patient in my example had tried lifestyle changes
Doubt it
The patient told the NP the he or she had joined a gym and was working out 4 days per week. There was also 23 pounds of documented weight loss over the previous 12 months. So he or she was trying something.

This thread is a pitiful commentary about many on this board. Someone is murdered and people are acting like the left from the 1990s and 2000s blaming corporate greed, focusing on class like good Marxists and suggesting it's a comeuppance.

If that picture is all they have of the shooter, good luck finding him.

How many of those people can't get a regular doctor because they're either not accepting new patients or they have one and they can't see them for 2-3 weeks?
You sound like someone who looks at the "free" healthcare systems in Canada and the UK and thinks we should do that too.
Just ignoring these kinds of realities of those govt systems:
quote:
The average wait time to see a doctor in Canada is 27.7 weeks, as of 2023, according to the Fraser Institute's annual survey of physicians
In the US, with the continued growth of NPs and PAs, urgent care centers, and things like Teladoc, you never need to wait more than 30-40 minute to see an HCP, unless you choose to.

But the posts in this thread that appear to tacitly condone murder as a means of avenging class disparities are disturbing.

I don't condone it.
I'm also not surprised by it.
This country is being pushed to its absolute limits.

It must be a big fricking problem then if people from the left and right are coming together on this. Reform is badly needed. Unfortunately, the lawmakers who could reform it are too busy being paid off by lobbyists or seeing returns from their insider investments in these companies. The middle class is tired of getting shite on from the classes above and below them.

Paid off by lobbyists?

I’m asking you to name the criminal offense as it would be charged against him. Unethical behavior isn’t grounds for prosecution

Have you ever told anyone in a final report that they need to "maximize operational efficiency" and does your firm have a "proprietary process" to assess the needs of your clients?
