Unhoused Alexandria man

In terms of political correctness, in which year will the term “Homeless” be on par with “Retarded?”

I hate homeless people but I can't help but feel sorry for them in weather like this. Especially tonight with the cold drizzling rain. I also loath being cold so maybe that's what's up with the extra sympathy.

Is unhoused the new PC way to say homeless? Never heard that before

She also blamed churches for locking their doors. Indeed, Jesus would not keep the doors locked, but Jesus did not have to deal with local, state, and federal governments. Jesus did not need permits to house these poor souls.

My Dad bought a PA system for our little country church. Some dickbag stole it. That's why churches are locked now.

But they will take the free money. Then let this chap die. While outraged in efforts to stack that cash. Shameful

If one is homeless at 65, there were a multitude of bad decisions along the way.

When did “unhoused” become a thing?

Not all of them. Room at the Inn offers shelter in various churches on cold nights. Community volunteers drop off bottled water, sandwiches, blankets, warm clothes, etc.

I’ll still never understand the reason for the insistence on using unhoused versus homeless

Here is the explanation my affordable housing focused friend told me. These people may not consider themselves homeless as their car or tent is their home; they are unhoused. I don’t see how the name change helps them. Hopefully Trump brings sanity back to words.

There was some low hanging fruit in that article.....

We make fun and joke about a homeless man dying while exposed to the elements.....I'm guilty too.

Yet, just 3-4 years ago we spent 42 pages helping a fellow OT'er look for AND FIND his lost brother who was on skid row.

My brother has been missing since 9/1/21. UPDATE HE’S BEEN FOUND BY THE OT.NEW UPDATE 1/23

I saw a guy tonight in Ruston that seemed homeless. He had a bike outside with what looked like his possessions on the back. He was sitting inside drinking from a water bottle and seemed to have finished eating. He stayed until they were almost closed then put on 5-6 layers of clothes before getting ready to leave. I never give money, but it was just burning me to give him some. I did, but once we walked outside to leave it was pouring and I felt bad actually. I asked my daughter if Ruston had anywhere for him to go. Felt like I should have given him enough for a room for the night.

When I was a kid,Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Elick never locked their doors, they were open 24 hours a day. They had stuff stolen couple of times so they started locking the doors.
Now they pay armed off duty policemen to be present for Sunday masses.

Ann Lowrey is the Director of “CLASS,” a non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of life by promoting access to inclusive education, healthcare and supportive services. She met Carl about 10 years ago in downtown Alexandria, and the two became good friends.

Close your organization, Ann, you have failed miserably this time. And, Ann, please stop blaming the church, you probably have never supported one.

The guy has been homeless for 10 years despite Ann's non-profit? Sounds like he couldn't be helped.
