I was informed by my daughter that my soon to be grandchild could be held by me and my wife but we couldn't even kiss the child on its forehead. I have never heard of this. Supposedly, it can cause certain infections for the newborn. It blew my mind. Anyone else ever heard of this?

Sounds like you've raised a liberal.

thought this was pretty common knowledge, not to kiss newborns on or around their face...

uh yeah. They don’t exactly have a robust immune system yet.

Don’t be selfish.

Common these days - not necessarily a political indictment…

That kid gonna be so soft!

You probably also can’t fuss or punish her. Just have to ask her if that was a good choice while she’s a rampaging brat.

Your daughter is insane.

Congratulations on the kid. Hers. Not yours. Yours is a disaster

Far from it. My daughter was told by her gyno that somehow it causes an adverse effect on the infant. My daughter doesn't follow the lefty BS.

Our experience was (all 3 of our children) when the first one came, we were met with all kinds of rules and prohibitions.

By the time the third child came, the kid was passed to us like we were wide receivers and the parents were quarterbacks.

They'll calm down eventually.

RSV and Flu can be spread via saliva. Don’t be offended, just protecting a baby with a basically non existent immune system. Don’t worry, neither mine or my wife’s boomer parents really thought about this either until it was explained to them. We did the same thing for the first couple of months before any vaccinations.

That’s how you help build immunity.

First-time parents read all kinds of shite and get easily spooked. Once they see how durable kids are, they won't care if you're rolling around with the second grandkid in a pig sty.

Absolutely. She is following her doctor's advice, mainly because it will be her first so she's nervous.

Seriously thought this was common knowledge not to do that...

Or my dumb arse mother in law eating peanuts while holding my newborn.

I mean, I'd rather find out in the hospital if he was allergic or not. But still.

Edit: ever seen what happens when the tiniest cold sore spreads to an infant? It can cover their entire body.

Their first? By the time the kid is 2 it will be crawling around eating random stuff off the floor and they won't bat an eyelash.

Their 4th will drive itself home and stop at the gas station for a roller hot dog.
