, she told me that their facility's main problem was they received all their surgical masks, gowns, bed sheets, etc from China. All cancelled now & they face massive shortages. Some American official somewhere signed off on this trade deal. When the smoke clears, look at the labels on clothing in mall stores. Wayyy too many made in China. But the worst for me is people here in La. eating Chinese crawfish; and the stores who purchase & sell it.
This is what I'm talking about. We are too dependent on China, and other countries for essentials. I said F corporations and politicians for getting us here, but we're all complicit. The reason everything is outsourced is profit margins. The reason we care about them is the stock market. Everyone's retirement is coming from our investments. It's not something that can change quickly, but I hope this virus makes people want this change. No current politician will want it. Nor will most working stiffs. We've sold our souls, and we ain't getting through the eye of a needle.

Ehhhh, I believe Nixon deserves a lot of blame as well. In Nixon’s otherwise pretty good presidency (watergate notwithstanding) opening China to the west was his biggest mistake.

During the Reagan years there was a giant push for American companies to travel to and expand in China. I accompanied then Chairman of AIG Hank Greenberg on one such trade mission.

That’s the (understandable) business motivation of cheaper labor and less regulation. But free trade people said it was fine.

If the us starts publicly calling out China on their shite with this there is a possibility of escalation at the worst possible time. This is not the time for that. We will see in the future
meh. The Président is already calling them out about lying at the beginning of this thing. But he's been a little too complimentary of Xi at these press conferences

Yea something odd is happening over there for sure.

Personally, I hope the entire country gets this because they lied and BS the entire world about a virus they invented. I hope they all die from it.

This shite has backfired on them while trying to make a biological weapon of mass destruction weapon.

frick them all

UK government officials believe China is spreading disinformation about the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in its country, the Mail on Sunday reports.

Read an NPR article this morning about China's numbers.

Testing Negative... Then Positive

Highlight for me... "Under its newest COVID-19 prevention guidelines, China does not include in its overall daily count for total and for new cases those who retest positive after being released from medical care. China also does not include asymptomatic cases in case counts."

So, you have to test positive AND show symptoms to be added to the count. People who are showing symptoms are now just locked in place and not tested, so they don't add to the count because they don't fit the dual criteria required.

Sheesh.

I'll just say this: if China is lying at that scale, the fact we can't immediately prove it means our intelligence agencies suck arse.

The US currently has no benefit of publicly acknowledging that China has covered up coronavirus numbers. Doing so would throw gas on an already volatile situation and start the populace clamoring for vengeance.
People, even here, got upset when early briefings in regards to the pandemic were classified. The Chinese truth, and the methods our intelligence agencies used to get to that truth, was the reason for classifying those meetings, not hiding the reality from the US people. The spy games have not stopped amidst this pandemic. The agencies continue to operate. This is just not the time nor the place to publicly acknowledge that fact.

I really wish Western media would start calling out China on their bullshite. It seems more like they are on China’s side than ours. It really pisses me off, because China is a big problem for many reasons.

The cost is these businesses giving power and influence to communist dictatorships.

Probably naive on my part here, but I’m hopeful a lot of Americans can come to their senses on some stuff after this.

The black man is not your enemy, the white man is not your enemy. Hispanics, liberals conservatives, etc. are not the source of the world’s biggest problem. The absolutely evil communist Chinese government are fricked up beyond belief and we need to think hard about how we relate to them going forward.

I have no ill will for the average Chinese folks going about their lives, but the Chinese government is an absolute menace to the world.

I hope more of the Western World is coming to the realization of how dangerous this shite China is doing. I'm hoping we'll see less involvement with Huawei too.

Add me to the tinfoil crowd on this one. The fact you can have it for 2 weeks before symptoms shows up sounds like a biological weapon meant to be spread far and wide before anyone starts looking closely. It's no coincidence Chinese labs are at ground zero...Wuhan.
