This thread taught me that Europeans have zero debt

Anyone who has spent any time abroad understands this. We are so lucky.

Washer and dryers if one crammed into kitchen area. I’ve seen pics from people who travel to the UK for work. It’s really not as glamorous over there as one would think.

They have debt... google told me so.
It does seem to be less than average American debt... but we keep more of our paychecks.

Do Europeans not have access to credit like Americans do? Do they simply save more than we do? Or do Americans make significantly more than the middle class British person?
I lived in Italy, France and the UK for a long time.
They have access but are MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more wary of debt. And, they also seem to be more loathe to let banks make extra money off them.
Really just how Americans of older generations felt.
My granddad passed away when I was a kid but one thing I recall is how much he chastised my parents for the amount they financed on a new car. He felt like you bought the car you could afford by saving and paying cash or it was a bad idea to get one that cost that much.
Many more Europeans still feel the way our grandparents felt about it.
So, it would be pretty common for a European seeing someone driving a 80k automobile and just assume they had fairly close to 80k in cash to buy it.

Also for having lawns

It’s not just money. We pretty much have almost any natural beauty and experience that you could want.
Gorgeous coastlines. Beaches (white sands, dark sands, rocky sands). Mountains. Deserts. Big cities. Sprawling countryside. Southern “sportsman paradise.” Natural/national parks. Amusement parks. Warm climates. Wintry climates. Cool climates. Etc. And all in the continental US alone for that matter.
I’ve seen lots of interviews and videos of people from there and most people over there talk shite about how “untraveled” we are but when they actually come here they realize why. We don’t have to leave the country to do almost anything we want. They also don’t realize just how large our country is.

That guy should have asked those folks how much debt they have
Meh. Yes-that's an issue.
But the people in the UK have been trained to expect less and receive less since instituting the socialist nanny state.
I learned this when booking trips overseas. Do not trust someone's review if they are from the UK on how nice a place is or how good the service is. They have a much, much lower expectation than Americans.

A peak behind the curtain would reveal severe credit debt.
This, but also socialism.
I worked with a guy from the Netherlands around 2010, and at some team dinner we saw a nice Porsche drive by. I told him he probably saw that kind of thing more frequently at home, and he said no. It’s more frequent to see expensive Porsches in the US because of socialism.
Nobody is very poor, but relatively few are wealthy.
Don’t let them sell you on it. That shite would be the end of the American dream.

gotcha, Texas is big alright, but a lot of it is off the grid and almost uninhabitable

the UK is, by western standards, a poor country attached to a hyper wealthy city. that country is going down the shitter and fast
however, these stats are like a lot of things, not great to be used as an individual measuring stick on the health of society
mississippi has a gdp per capita that puts it in the absolute upper tier of all european countries when you factor out the micro states and tax havens. however, it would have the lowest HDI in all of central and western europe

Don't sell her short, people turned on her then too when they realized she was about to put the screws to them to benefit her benefactors.

Suggest reading Butler to the World if interested in the topic.
Touches on how the US turned a blind eye to the UK becoming the worlds money launderer (hence the Lambos and Ferraris driving around Mayfair) in exchange for us becoming the worlds reserve currency.
Big mistake.
