Do not care. U High is for kids that can’t get into Catholic High/St Joseph or parents that are too cheap to pay for it.

do know under the previous Director, there were a number of families he allowed to go months and years without being forced to pay tuition or being kicked out of school.

But those championships were worth it

That was the case 20 years ago. Now CHS and SJA will let anyone who pays (within reason).

U-High is a cheap “private” school that is seen as socially acceptable and superior to going to a regular public school. As you said, it’s for parents that are too cheap to pay for parochial schools.

Nobody should ever be safe at a job position. You should always have the threat of losing your job if you don’t perform well.

How is the school funded? It’s part of LSU, so is it state money?

Yeah this doesn't seem personal at all. Looks like you created this account just for this post. Moron.

Not every parent wants send their kids to a parochial school. There's nothing wrong with Lab. Mine is in 9th grade and has been there since kindergarten. I think the only people with problems with it are the wealthy, connected ones.

Only a very select handful of religious based privates still have "waiting lists" Jesuit is one.

Something's Rotten at the Top:

Since booting Kevin George, Interim Administrator Rob Lyles has apparently made employee terminations his new favorite pastime. It’s been a veritable firing frenzy since the start of the year—names dropped with the precision of a dartboard strategy. Thursdays and Fridays seem to be the preferred hit days (how subtle), almost as if someone’s trying to keep things under the radar of the media or labor boards.

The working theory? The school’s bleeding money, and the grand plan is to gut experienced staff and swap in cheaper replacements. So much for all that heartfelt praise at the 2024 graduation—remember the speeches about excellence and community? Yeah, neither do they.

This reeks of a slow-motion implosion. If there’s a vision for the future of this campus, it’s being scribbled on the back of a napkin. Somebody better start asking hard questions—because right now, it’s starting to look like nobody’s job is safe, and the school is headed straight for the iceberg

Or they're realigning UHigh with new Louisiana principles. It's no secret that UHigh went off the deep end with Covid and BLM/LGBTQ/BS. New admin in Louisiana and change is to be expected. Wokeism is no longer tolerated.

My child graduates from U High in 2 weeks. From my perspective, it has been great. We have had no issues and my child really enjoyed it.

It seems there is more hate for U High here than the rest of schools in BR. I didn't grow up here so maybe it's a BR native thing. I never saw anything that deserved the hate, but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention.

CHS test scores are far better than they were when I graduated 19 years ago

Sure seems like they have gotten more selective

Agree. I've never seen so many people triggered by a local elementary/high school as there are on here towards U-High.

And if we're having an honest discussion about one of the points raised in the thread (paying athletes to go to school there), right or wrong, this happens at most schools in Louisiana now. I'm sure Derrius Guice was at Catholic for the academics and paid full tuition. Didn't Catholic have to vacate a few of its championships recently? Some schools have been busted; some haven't....but most, if not all, are doing it.

Stop with this nonsense. Uhigh has been a more progressive school for years before BLM and Covid and it will continue to be because of the people who send their kids there. When I was in school, Obama won the mock elections in 2008 and 2012. Today, one principal is a lesbian and the other is a black man. There is no agenda to have a “cultural cleansing” aligned with Landry’s ideals. There is definitley a push for more focus on academics and to cut back on the amount of students attending without paying.

100%

Catholic High Parents pay a significant fee that goes toward scholarships. I have friends with kids there and it is a point of contention.

what makes you think these all aren't already being done? You think the first move was to cut teachers

Next year there will be a lot less scholly students, fyi.

Started this year. Not sure if there are kids that get full rides but I do know financial aid was cut for a lot of families.

Yet they've changed admins, and are terminating senior educators. Look, you have your viewpoint and I have mine, but LSU also shite canned their DEI just prior to Landry taking office (they actually just relocated/renamed it) but the message has been received.
