A true professional could have conveyed the exact same sentiment without acting like a petulant toddler in front of kids.

I don't give a frick what transpired prior. He's supposed to be a professional. If you can't compose yourself go find a job digging ditches.

fast-idle mode

Some (most or all?) modern outboards don't have fast idle levers because the ECU handles the warmup process like a modern car. Some digital helms (ie Yamaha) have a neutral hold button which is really what you want. When the neutral hold button is activated it doesn't raise the RPM it just removes the, "fly by wire" in this case, connection between the sticks and transmission so bumping the sticks can't cause an accident like this.

As with all videos of incidents, my opinion has a lot to do with what occurred before the incident occurred. I can come up with hypotheticals where the raging would be absolutely understandable and hypotheticals where it would be way over the top. I have had family and friends on the boat and later in the day when they were good and wasted they started fricking around and after the 10th or so time of telling them to knock it off I would go ballistic because it was the only thing that would penetrate their alcohol-soaked brains. Yeah, it killed the vibe but it was the only thing that got killed and almost always followed up with a sorry bruh from both sides when the BAC returned to or near zero. In this case, there is just not enough info to determine if or how over the top Cpt Chris was.

Sure seems weird to post it online if it really ended up ok, the title including ‘disaster’ sure makes it seem like they weren’t great.

Single engine boat you almost always leave the motor on. Not all controls have the neutral ability others discussed. But I have no idea if that can be upgraded on some? Maybe, because that would be a great idea for all charters to have.

Thats not a huge boat, single engine afterall, it would be difficult to keep a family of 4 completely away from the helm. That seems like a poor excuse imo.

Jesus Christ. The grammar in that apology post is shite. Why would a supposedly professional company release that?

AS someone who has done over 5,000 charter trips, he deserves to have his license revoked and never do another charter trip

Complete psycho and he has zero self control which is not a good trait when he has others lives at his hands.

Not the kind of guy who should be taking trips out.

You can just hear that wife, all the way from the dock to wherever they were staying ...

"I can't believe you let him talk to us like that, and in front of little Nigel! And you tipped him $200!"

So he runs to the internets

So because a guy hurt your feelings and said bad words in front of your kids (after you almost kill him), you think a proper response is to physically assault him (also in front of your kids) because they sets an even better example for them

Nobody said to kick his arse in front of the kids or even for the father to kick his arse. I said he needs his arse kicked, not that the father needed to kick his arse on the spot.

Who is?

Leaving the engines running is perfectly normal. It's foolish not to when offshore. Putting the engine in a mode where it can't be shifted isn't overly convenient and not common at all. I dont know anyone other than me who regularly does it. Also sounds like they don't all have that feature anymore.

They also blamed the customer. They don’t know any better, simple minded folks.

Has the video in the OP been changed?

All I see is the captain crying for 20 seconds then just little Nigel's crocs for the rest of the video.

What engine brand do you have? I tried to google my Suzukis last night and pretty much the only thing that comes up is ‘high idle’ engine issues. I’ll look at my manual today.

The owner posted a video saying Captain Chris was fired.

Meathead should go back to managing a Snap fitness or whatever he was doing before.
