Yes. There were not that many, and not all did it willingly, but there were blacks who did indeed fight for the Confederacy. Since this goes against the modern leftist narrative concerning blacks and the Confederacy, it’s almost impossible to find mention of them on the internet in anything resembling factual terms.

Give me the actual source documentation and I'll look it up. I mean, documents from the period etc. Because my initial database search finds nothing substantive.

If they really wanted to be historical accurate and show what reality was actually like, that schools don't teach about, than one of the black guys should have portrayed a slave master while the other was his slave. Factual numbers show there were a few thousand black slave owners.
The largest slave owner in the midlands of South Carolina was William " April" Ellison who had 2 sons fight, for the Confederacy,in the war of northern aggression and he was a black man that was actually born a slave yet earned his freedom then bought his former masters plantation and increased the amount of slaves he owned.

Yep. Get this book.

You will learn many things about the War for Southern Independence that the propaganda of the Yankee Empire has been trying to erase for over 150 years.

My first wife got her MA in applied history and one of the guys that finished with her did his thesis on Black in the Confederate war. He had a god-awful time finding any first-person sources for the actual combat troops. Plenty of sources for them used as support as one would imagine. Any Black men that served legally as combat troops would have been at the bitter end of the war at the earliest spring of '65 when the laws were changed. His quest was in the early 90's so it wasn't a "leftist" thing.

The victors write the history books. It's always been that way.

There's a famous black officer out of St Francisville. When the South seceded he fought for them; when the north took it back over, he fought for them.

As he put it, he was fighting for his home and a place to live in it.

So they didn't understand the history and tried to insert nonsense into a civil war reenactment?
