I think he said it, the owner didn’t seem to deny saying it.

An institutional Tuscaloosa restaurant is under social media siege Saturday as a video reportedly showing the aftermath of the owner making a racist comment

Oof, that's gonna cut into business for a few hours.

Didn’t watch the video. Is there any proof he actually said it?

That video does not have the owner saying it. Whether there is one, I don't know.

As I asked before, were they refused service? Treated poorly?

there’s a very easy test for “is what I said or did racist?”

-were the person(s) I directed my speech or actions toward behaving within societal norms and/or were they not annoying/aggravating/disturbing anyone else?

if yes, racist
if no, perfectly acceptable

Haven't you all learned anything from the Jussie Smollet episode? There is an election coming up. Pause before getting ramped up on a viral video. All I'm saying.

So the fat guy walked back inside to tell the family the owner said a bad word outside (if that happened) and then was worried about how it ruined their dinner?

I’m a 50 year old man and this guy said a mean word not directed to me. Let me cause a scene.

Meh, the dude is standing up for his friends. Nobody was overly mad about it. Must have been poor service. The owner did not deny saying it so more than likely he said it. Should not have said that in front of them as the owner.

He needs to retire and sell the restaurant. Otherwise, he will be bankrupt within a year.

From what I’ve seen others say he’s not the actual owner, his girlfriend is the owner.

Blacks frequent Nicks literally every single day. This owner is either certifiably retarded or he’s not the owner and there’s some confusion there.

That fat baw needs to chill, we get it, you have black friends

Yea that’s not the owner who “said it”

Meanwhile, a rapper somewhere will drop a song that uses that word 100 times in 4 minutes and no feelings will be hurt

If you want to get offended by the word then get offended no matter who uses it. Don't pick and choose.

Anybody else think this place sucks and is way overrated? Their steaks aren't even that good. Pretty sure they're just standard Sysco crap. And that signature drink they carry on about is just a bunch of fruity crap mixed together and served in a Styrofoam cup. When I finally went there with some friends I was pretty disappointed, especially because we had to wait like an hour. The one thing they had going for them is that it wasn't real expensive. For my money the best steak in the area is at Big Mike's in Moundville.

How have we allowed this to happen? Feels a lot like kindergarten.

I could be wrong here, but shouldn’t there be an “allegedly” somewhere in there since it’s just one person claiming he used a racial slur?

This. That video does not prove a thing other than morbidly obese baw who is likely drunk accusing an owner of having a private conversation where he said so you “condone” sitting with n&($&!?

Something ain’t right. I doubt anyone in that crew uses the word condone on a casual basis.

I’m calling bullshite.

you are not this simple minded. Words that can be used in different ways convey meaning thru context. If the persons referred to here were acting like shitheads then yes, it’s likely that “someone” would call them that word. If they were simply dining while black, then…

in common parlance the n-word can be used both as a term of familiarity or as a racial slur and yes the who and the why does matter
