A quality list, but you and mother have undoubtedly spent a lot of time in institutions built by Edgar Stern.

Longue Vue home and gardens . . . is his home.

He founded Dillard University and Country Day (the main building is a replica of his original longue vue home)

He built the first black housing developments at pontratrian park, developed deer valley into a ski resort, was maybe the biggest giver to Tulane at the time, a trustee of big charity, was a major supporter of city recreation (he’s the stern of the tennis center).

At least per wiki the Boston club invited him to join, an honor extended only to the finest Jew (he of course declined on account of having a moral compass).

Stern is probably the most significant civic philanthropist of the first half of the 20th century.

Homer Plessy was born in New Orleans. Perhaps he is an 19th century figure, but few more impactful people have ever called New Orleans home.

Scratch Payton and add Eli. The younger brother has just as many Super Bowl Rings, but more SB MVPs. And Eli did it against Tom Brady and the Pats.

Made his name as sheriff of JP… not New Orleans

Ellen Degeneres went to Grace King, not in New Orleans so she’s out too

Mel Ott was from Gretna, not New Orleans… scratch him

Where is Emeril Lagasse? Juvenile? SDT IV? Mitch Landrieu?

I’d put Odell Beckham, Leonard Fournette, D.J. Augustin over Will Clark
