My Friends, Mr. TulaneLSU and Mother,
I do not participate often here in the TD world, but choose to read and thus gather the many nuggets of wisdom available here.
You are the Man.

Friend,
Mother is quite the outdoorsman and potter. She is a Newcomb alumnus. To my knowledge, she has never entered a bar, and she certainly has not worked in one.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Dear TulaneLSU,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure with Mother. I’m glad to hear she is doing better. Your adventures with her are quite the tales! Please give us more of these.

Great stuff. Last few times I tried to take the kids to the Cabildo it was closed. And The Napoleon House is one of my favorites - now I really miss NOLA.
Although London Lodge????? I’m not even going to ask why you went there.

TulaneLSU, as someone who has only visited NOLA once, I appreciate these posts.

Is TulaneLSU old New Orleans money or just Kenner trash masquerading with an education?
Posted on 11/13/20 at 6:59 pm to TulaneLSU
There was a nice pile of human shite on the Decatur sidewalk just up from Dain Xin yesterday.
Did Mother step in it?

Honestly those pictures of nola might be the most depressing thing I've ever seen. A city that thrives on tourism is abandoned

If only I aged as little as the Napoleon House ages.
Thanks for the memories and the near vacant streets (almost day after Christmas like).
At least the death mask didn't burn.

Friend,
Thank you for this recent offering. It was enthralling to read and I wholeheartedly appreciated it.
In 1982 I had occasion to work near the Napoleon House for several months. I became a “regular” there for Lunch, but only to pick up a take-out order for myself and my co-workers about four weekdays per work week. It did not hurt my popularity there that I was a fair tipper, especially taking into consideration my always to-go orders.
It was interesting to become a bit trusted by the staff members there as they eventually let their guard down around me and spoke openly in my presence about the happenings and trivialities of Napoleon House work life at the time. It was intriguing and entertaining to me and was a nice diversion in the middle of my workday.
I almost always make time for a brief visit to the Napoleon House when I visit the French Quarter to remind myself of those times.
As to your stay at the London Lodge, I must first admit that I have never set foot on the property. During your recent stay, were there any visible reminders there of the namesake City of London with its numerable charms? I should think the property having a bellman costumed as a Beefeater would not be too much to ask? Possibly the desk clerk wearing a barrister’s wig and robe would lend a stately English air to the establishment?
If you have a few moments to share some details of your Lodge experience, I’m sure more than a few of us would be happy to read of it.
As always, your work here is appreciated more than you can know.
I remain your humble correspondent-

as you likely know I’ve spent many many hours in the Napoleon house. Half a muff and a side of jambalaya is the best lunch in the quarter. Every visit to New Orleans is incomplete without a stop there.
Very looking forward to the tale of the London lodge
Best to mother
