The state's flagship educational institution is inside the top 40 for the first time in about 16 years. Meanwhile, LSU's drop is attributed by F. King Alexander to cuts in state funding...

Solid troll here. Giving it a 9/10.

A private college with tuition costing ~27k / semester is rated higher than a state school?
Ya don't say.

And your football team still sucks.

Les Miles has lost control of the ranking system

In spite of the fact that it costs 50k to attend...Tulane has been doing really great work as of late. Endowment is up to 1.3B, I believe, twice that of LSU. They are about to break ground on a huge 35M project re the B school, and they consistently get more and more research funding.
On top of that, the new AD has things pointed in the right direction on the field. Honestly, LSU should try and poach this guy.
Tulane and LSU are moving in different directions...and very quickly.

Tulane has been on the rise since Katrina, it's just taken a long time to reflect that in these rankings due to a delay in reporting data and 6 year retention rates. TU rebranded itself as a university dedicated to volunteer work and bettering society, and millennials have eaten it up

That's what we get for firing Sean O'Keefe.

-New President is on an aggressive capital campaign to raise the endowment to over $2B
-The business school is breaking ground on a new state of the art facility and students continue to get top tier jobs
-All departments and students are required to give back minimum 60 hours to the New Orleans community before they graduate
-Athletics is moving swiftly in the right direction under new leadership (4 new coaches this year)
Sounds like we are doing something right at Tulane to get to #39.

Impressive. Not worth the tuition, though.

Technically, Tulane IS the University of Louisiana, or at least it was and still owns the naming rights.
