What black man of power wasn't? Slavery was common among Europeans, Persians, North Africans, Sub-Saharan Africans, Arabs, American Indians, actual Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Mayans, Aztecs, Icelanders, and Mongols. In short, EVERY people in the world were slavers.
And slavery was a good thing. Life was so labor intensive that without taking slaves there would have been no opportunity for people to invent and create. Without slavery there would be no modernity. It was necessary for advancement. Sucked for the slaves, though.

I can't understand how the removal of monuments will in any way help better educate black people? How will it make better jobs for them, or provide financial security for their families? How will it improve school systems or them living in ghettos? How will it cut down on black on black crime or pull them out of poverty?

Racism these days is worst in progressive cities and those places are drawing a lot of young people. If you vote with your feet by seeking out a home with fewer black people, it's because you either (1) hate black people, or (2) are a selfish POS who is willing to throw them under the bus so you can have craft beer and yoga studios.

I voted with a moving van. We were in our dream house, but the area was getting very "diverse", our house was robbed, the people across the street were robbed (ironically, while conducting a free clinic downtown), my security cam picked up a guy trying to pry my car door open, some of the neighbors were putting bars over windows, you get the picture.
So silly ole racist me, moved to an area far off the bus lines, into what will be St. George. I'm old, I don't want to fight the battle, I just want my wife and I to be safe.
