Mary Lee donuts store on Highland Road near Starring Lane.

That location’s hot glazed donuts are the best. They’re dangerously close to my house, and it takes an amazing amount of willpower to bypass them on the way to work.

Agreed! Donuts at my favorite place have skyrocketed in price over the past year. I pay like $14 or $15 for a dozen (6 glazed and 6 chocolate). They used to be around $10.

Meche's in Lafayette went up to $1.25 per donut this year. Was 99 cents for the longest time and 75 cents before that.

Used to be able to walk out with 3 donuts and a Medium Breakfast Blend coffee for less than $4.

I don’t even remember the last time that I had a donut. Fifteen years ago at least.

Hell, the other day I bought a sizable pack of chicken breast for less than what a large bag of Doritos goes for. Chip prices are outpacing everything, even coffee.

I think what you missed was the joke.

If the joke was intended to be about the price of milk, then yeah I missed it because milk is cheaper than gas.

If $5.25 would be for 2/3 of a gallon of milk, then the premise is that milk costs $7.88 per gallon? Even though any of us can go to the grocery and get a gallon for $3.49?

Setup: Where is that guy buying his milk?
Punchline: Astros games?

See, that’s how it’s done.

He won't come back after his lie. You can buy 5 regular donuts for $5. With that said that's still ridiculous.

I haven’t had donuts in years, but been craving one lately. I wish we had a Krispy Kreme. Anyone know the best regular glazed donuts in Lafayette? I assume Meche’s?

It’s a joke about random uncommon, nonsensical amounts.

The guy made a thread about getting 5 donuts which is weird because commonly one would get 1, 6 (half a dozen) or 12 (dozen.)

The responder said yeah he ordered the same thing with his 2/3 gallon or milk.

Which is funny because milk commonly comes in 1/2 gallon or gallon containers.

It’s a witty remark in a likely lighthearted sarcastic tongue in cheek tone to point out the nonsensical amount from the OP.

The joke loses steam when you have to boil it down to its parts though.
