As of yesterday something like 20 something states (24?) banned abortion outright via trigger laws. I think you would agree that's more restrictive than the either map I or you provided.

Here is the other side.

Progressives here in the US want/get abortion up until birth. Looking at Europe and seeing their restrictions, is "abortion on demand in the US" radical to you? Yes or no?

This is factually incorrect. They restricted abortion. Like many states restrict gun ownership.

Rights have limits, right kids?

False

quote:

Abortion in France is legal on demand during the first 14 weeks from conception.[1][2] Abortions at later stages of pregnancy are allowed if two physicians certify that the abortion will be done to prevent grave permanent injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman; a risk to the life of the pregnant woman; or that the child will suffer from a particularly severe illness recognized as incurable.[3][4][5] The abortion law was liberalized by the Veil Law in 1975.

quote:

The Mississippi law makes most abortions illegal after 15 weeks of pregnancy, about two months earlier than Roe and later decisions allow. Most experts estimate fetal viability to be about 24 weeks.

The law was enacted in 2018 by the Republican-dominated Mississippi Legislature but never went into effect because of an immediate legal challenge that led to a federal appellate court blocking its enforcement.

The law bans abortions if “the probable gestational age of the unborn human” is determined to be more than 15 weeks, with narrow exceptions for medical emergencies or “a severe fetal abnormality.”

“Likely banned”, lol. Then they further define “banned” as not being banned.

Not throwing a parade and catered party = outright banned

Nations in Orange have 17 week restriction, red is more restrictive(12) green is less (20)
For comparison the limit under RvW was 24-28 weeks. The Mississippi law that cause all of this was 15 weeks.

The majority of abortions in 2019 took place early in gestation: 92.7% of abortions were performed at =13 weeks’ gestation; a smaller number of abortions (6.2%) were performed at 14–20 weeks’ gestation, and even fewer (<1.0%) were performed at =21 weeks’ gestation. From the CDC abortion surveillance-

While I do not know the numbers for certain, I would guess a big majority of the abortions done post 13wks were due to a maternal health, fetal viability, or other reason besides "oh wait, I have been pregnant for over 3 months and have just decided to not have the baby just because." Not to mention, the abortion itself becomes a much more involved and potentially more dangerous procedure the further into pregnancy.

What does this have to do with the person I responded to's claim that it's false that Europe has more restrictive abortion laws than the US?

European nations are more equivalent to US states. For example, France = Carolinas.

The Carolinas equal almost 41% of France.

Live in Germany and the laws here are

-Abortions outside of the first trimester are not permitted unless it is a rare exceptions that have to be approved.
-Abortions are performed by Doctors only, in a hospital, and they must have a certification
-Women who seek an abortion must be counseled on alternative options.
-Advertisments for Abortions are verboten (Greens are trying to change that one).
-Abortions are still technically illegal at least in Bavaria. The way the wife explained it they are sort of decriminalized to a degree.

Europe as a whole is much more conservative than some states are when it comes Abortions.

You'd be wrong

The data indicate it's convenience reasons just like early abortions.

Think, at 4 weeks he said he'd take care of me , at 24 weeks he gone.

If I recall, liquor stocks all dropped 10-20% the very next day.
