he just bought a house worth more than 3 times his net worth. You don't think this clown is in debt over his head and will be for the foreseeable future?

some of y'all have no sense.

I disagree. I saw one or two of his standups and I thought he was funny.

Well, I'm sure he didn't pay cash for it.

Yeah my father owns an apartment in NYC that's on the corner and on the bus and subway line. Apparently that's awesome. A developer contacted him and offered him four times what he paid for it.

Hopefully he falls off his balcony.

My sister has lived in Manhattan for a while now (about 15 years). My parents visit a lot and like to bring my kids and my brother's kid up there. He owns a lot of property and figured owning real estate in NYC would be a smart thing. I guess it worked out for him.

ETA: Oh, the developer wants the whole building. I imagine they have to get each tenant on board (I think there are only 5 or 6 tenants in the entire building) and the offer looks pretty generous.

Google is likely wrong, in this case. He's worth more than $3mm and he definitely makes more than a million.

Does that guy really have enough money from being a comedian for that not to be a stupid purchase?

one of the glories of modern telecommunications is that we get to see the truly bad decisions that the newly rich do sometimes.

Hammer, the singer/dancer, bought a $11 million gargantuan estate in the east bay back when $11 million was real money. he was bankrupt three or four years later.

the part that gets me is that you only get a 3 bedroom place for $11 million in that neighborhood.

uying real estate in a market like Manhattan is rarely dumb. Not like it's gonna be worthless if he gets cancelled.

Shouldn't he be donating all of this money to social justice causes?

In Hammer's case (as with many similar instances), buying that real estate was not what lead to his bankruptcy.

He's making more than 1mm or no bank would take that loan. The interest alone would be ~30% of his monthly gross salary.

Yall need to stop acting like traditional percentage ratios matter.

When you make 1 million, that is about 50,000 take home a month

So let's say 50% is wrapped up in his mortgage, that still leaves 25k.

That's why the whole percentage game is useless here
