Travel ball dads, what’d you do with school ball coaches?

A) Just shut up and let your kid’s play speak for itself.

B) Talk to them about your kid’s goals and his commitment level to the sport.

C) Demand he start as a freshman based on his World Series experience.

Is there a part of you that questions the school coaches ability to select and promote talent?

I go help out at every practice. Usually throwing bp or helping with individual drills

Once they go to tryouts, make the MS, JV, and HS team, just go watch some games.

I tried to tell them all of my kids accomplishments and they looked at me like I was an idiot.

This. If your son is good enough to start on a high school baseball team, their coach will see that. Just cause your kid played 7 years of travel ball doesn't make you or him a great player.

Or bitch and moan on social media and to anyone who will listen until the coach is fired "A little too late".

Doing the opposite...quitting travel to play school sports. Boy’s ready to branch out...but he still wants to star in his base sport.

The varsity coach last year had him practicing with the squad, but the new coach doesn’t know him.

D) They don't/didn't do shite because they're enormous vaginas. They kept their mouth shut until work and bitched and moaned to their co-workers who don't give a shite about other people's kids' sports but nodded along and said a "uh huh" and "yea" when it seemed appropriate.

False. As a former HS coach I had all of my players (not their parents) tell me their goals for the season and their careers. It gave you a glimpse into the kid's personality letting you find effective motivational factors.

I know someone who is like this. Every time he comes around, all he talks about is his kids accomplishments in high school sports. He starts naming other kids like we know who they are and talking about ridiculous things. It is so cringy when he's around.

If you really want to see where your kid is, let him go in with a clean slate for the new coach.

This sounds like really good advice.

Moved my kid to 6 different high school in 4 years because none of those dumbass coaches realized how good my kid was. He would've gotten a scholly if just one of those idiots was competent and put my kid in
