A few years ago my kids started buying me collectables from my favorite movies/TV shows and 80's 90's pop culture for my birthdays and Christmas. Occasionally I buy a piece for my self. Just bought this fella last month..... what can I say it puts a smile on face

I had a Lego Technic crane kit that, when it was new was a hefty $80+ in the early 1990's. Now it's $200 for a kit that has all the parts and the original box and much more for a NIB example. I had one of these too, vintage toys were so much better than the crap kids got after 2000.

They shut down the US stores in 2019. Until today, I also thought they had shut down worldwide, and had no idea they still existed anywhere.
Now apparently they're trying to re-enter the US market. They've already re-opened 40 US stores and are re-opening 120 more.

Well that's just not true. There are more kids than ever collecting Pokémon over sports cards and adults make up the majority, but there are still quite a bit of kids in the hobby. You go to a card show and you'll see a ton of them.
If Toys R Us does open up all these new stores, i would image a decent section of every store is going to be Pokémon and sports cards.

I did not need my dad's guidance to not to go to Toys R Us by age 40.
I was too embarrassed all on my own to get anything from that store by age 7, maybe age 8 at the oldest.

It's mostly building sets. So Legos and models.
Vader plays with his toy models still.
The one that's more strange is the comfort plushes, that's definitely a thing like one if the posters noted above.

Similar but it was a New Bright CAT 777B remote control dump truck and 245D excavator stashed under a pile of clothes in his bathroom closet.

The worst ones to me are the ones that resell Pokemon cards as their “jobs”.
