To attract outside businesses to come here, especially for work that is skilled to semi-skilled, we have to improve our infrastructure, meaning primarily schools, universities, parks and recreation, etc. If we can provide a quality place to raise a family, we can attract national and international businesses.

It’s a loop that keeps feeding itself. Corrupt government looking for kickbacks—>no corporate relocation/no new industry—>college educated/skilled workers leave the state for greener pastures—>less tax revenue for improved infrastructure/schools/parks (even if revenue was there, it would be funneled to politicians and their relatives/buddies for kickbacks)—>schools suck—>poorly educated workforce—>no new industry—>less tax revenue.

The petrochemical industry is really the only thing keeping this state afloat. If LA didn’t have these natural resources and these companies didn’t already have roots/infrastructure here from the World War II era (and even before that), they wouldn’t be building anything now.

Let's put it this way, it would come out cheaper for Toyota to put it in Alaska or Hawaii.

You’re joking, right? Louisiana will never get this plant.

No, but if they ever make a movie of them building a battery plant we could get a shot at if.

I don’t think jbe has tried to improve Louisiana at all - so he probably doesn’t know this opportunity exists nor does he care

The oil and gas baws here in Louisiana do not want any of this "competition".

Politicians would lose elections here if they went after this plant. Especially if any incentives were involved (and wherever this goes, there will be incentives).
