This is an incredible picture of the supercell thunderstorm that created the devastating tornadoes in Polk County and more tornadoes across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The power of nature is amazing and terrifying at the same time.

In the Southeast, it is a good rule of thumb to just keep your head down til around the second week in May.

At 2:45 this morning I woke up to a tornado warning alert on my phone. First place I cane was here. Instantly I had posters just west of me letting me know what to expect. This place is invaluable for real time news.

The South is close to shipping this tornado crap up to the Midwest for the rest of Spring.
Then, they'll send what's left of it up to the Dakotas

Here is a first look at the path from yesterday's tornado, along with the preliminary numbers. These are all still subject to change with more data and analysis, but this is what we know so far.
nothing from Lake Charles yet on last night's tornado

a near 3/4-mile wide EF0 tornado... a bit weird, no?

NWS Jackson MS @NWSJacksonMS

Had one up in NWA last fall.

The second tornado touched down at 12:08 a.m. and lifted at 12:38 a.m. This tornado was 1.5 miles wide and was on the ground for 31.4 miles. This tornado was also ruled an EF1 tornado. This tornado hit Highfill, Rogers, Cave Springs & lifted 3.7 miles SE of Avoca.
Lot of the damage(in my area) looked like EF0 to my eyes.
Width doesn't indicate strength in naders.
This tornado from a few years ago in SE OK wasn't very wide, but had some of most violent rotation I've ever seen.
