Yes it's a very complicated process. I wasn't just posting a hypothetical or anything. Please explain how to properly use a credit card, I could really use your help.

I use my CC on most of my purchases. I pay it off each month with no interest and get points which leads to free money. A few hundred every year, so If that’s trashy, well I’m fricking Oscar The Grouch. Dump it on me.

I'm glad you asked it because I sure wanted to and said "frick it".

Junior just finished up his finance elective and feels like he can stick his chest out about something he learned (but doesn't really apply here).

The value of a dollar compared to other currency is not time value of money doofus

This thread has told me the vast majority of the OT is at the very least uneducated and at the worst under the influence of pastor Tim and his Dave Ramsey Course

Why would you go into debt when you have the cash available?

Did I say compared to other currency?

Regardless, you seem to have a pretty good grasp on all of this. Help me out, I plan on buying a $350 tv. How much money would I be saving by putting it on a credit card and paying the $350 a month from now?

So do you put everything on a CC and then pay that balance off at the end of the month?

5 cents. You'd also get the rewards on the card and probably have more free cash flow. Now let's extrapolate that over a lifetime.

And yes that's what you said. Time value of money doesn't fluctuate, currency does.

I'm still amazed at how many people don't understand about credit card rewards by earning points and miles. To each his own I guess.

The main reason for me is if my card number is stolen I have alot more protections if it is a credit card than a debit card.
