Even more ironic if this comment inspires me to cause you to stop breathing.

hat happened to a friend of mine years ago. The little girl was two when he found out it wasn't his daughter.

Close incident > the little girl was five.
The wife told him when she handed him the divorce papers and restraining orders.
He was a good guy, had no idea it was coming. She was evil personified.

Made up stories on Reddit are more common that baby swaps but babies get swapped.

We literally had ours with us every step of the way.

Honestly… babies look different, would have recognized a different baby.

Yeah it’s called adoption

right, no way at that age you could swap. But it'd be so weird to me thinking "my child is out there being raised by someone else" daily. Then I'd probably beat myself up for even saying "my child" when of course I'd still love the 5 year old I've bene raising. I wonder if you'd feel compelled to try to be involved in the other kid's (yours in reality, but raised by the other parents) life? What a mess

In todays day and age, you would never expect that to happen, but you never know... Especially today, the baby usually stays in the mom's room these days.

Yeah I’m not 100% certain but I think due to Covid a lot of places are keeping the babies in the parents’ room.

At least they did for ours.

Probably completely made up.

I know every hospital is different, but when our daughter was born, she never left the room and they immediately tagged her with a matching bracelet as me and the wife. I would think that has to be standard nowadays.

These mistakes can happen, a bracelet can slip off in the nursery, although very unlikely. But there have been reports that surgeons amputated the wrong leg or arm, removed the wrong organ...

This is an example of karma farming on Reddit. If this were true it would make national headlines.

Babies all look the same. They got one. That's all that matters.

It wouldn't be the first time a hosptital swapped babies by accident

I bet there are quite a few other cases of this out there that people have no idea about

I find it hard to believe a hospital would have that level of negligent but maybe.

Our daughter never left the room after she was born much less my arms for the first 24 hours.

Find it hard to believe this considering how hospitals tag the mom and baby to make sure something like this doesn't happen

How old is the child? I remember in the past hearing how babies would get switched at birth at the hospital. Couldn’t imagine that happening in this day and age though

Eta missed that part in the very beginning. Yeah 2017, that’s hard to believe that could happen. Hospital could easily be sued Id think.

which raises the second question...what the hell happens when it's all straightened out? Do both families jsut throw up their hands and be like "well it's already been 5 years so this is fine". Do they attempt a swap? That'd be weird as hell

I think both families would keep the kids they had been raising, but they may all be each others lives from that point on?
