That's unfortunate but actually make a bit of sense

I could live in any state with some combination of beach/metro area or mountains/metro area. States that lack those combinations are not for me. Work hard, play hard.

It is tough to pick five favorites. I went with a combo of natural beauty, cities that I like, and cultural contributions.

Least favorite is also tough. Every state has some good stuff in it, but in some states you definitely have to look harder. For both lists I only included states I have actually been to.

Favorites
Hawaii: the natural beauty is unparalleled among US states. Unique food and culture as well.
California: Another beautiful state. I particularly like the Pacific Coast Highway and Yosemite. I don't love LA, but San Diego and San Francisco are cool cities.
Louisiana: Mostly on here for NOLA, but also great food and music, and the swamps and bayous are interesting.
Georgia: I always feel very at home in Georgia. I think it has retained more of its southern charm than some of the other southern Atlantic states. Atlanta and Savannah are nice pair of cities: a modern dynamic hub, and a charming historic port city.
North Carolina: Possibly the prettiest of the southern states thanks to (IMO) the best combo of beaches and mountains. Its major cities are a little bland, but Asheville and Wilmington have some charm.

HM: Utah: Love some of the national parks here such as Bryce Canyon and Arches.
