Yep. Washington, Oregon and even Alaska have areas that may get no snow in a winter.

You would be correct. Other than flying through Seattle, I have never been to Washington. Either way, I haven't visited either state yet.

I definitely wouldn't say that Lake Charles is better than Newport Beach, but I wasn't impressed with that whole area (Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, etc...). The only place I really liked in that area was Laguna. Once we started driving north and got to Santa Barbara on upward we enjoyed the state much more.

Some of the prettiest and ugliest places in the USA are in California.

Big Sur is cut off from the world right now and basically will be until September due to the storm damage

Definitely put a damper on our California trip in February, but even with that California was the second most beautiful state that I've been to (only behind Hawaii).
