I can trust the previous actions of the family of the young man and infer what he might have done to provoke such a response.

I can also use my knowledge and eyes to assess the situation. The pastor, no matter how much of a douchebag, is allowed to cross the street. He can do that at running speed or a walking pace (assuming safe crossing due to traffic conditions). He can also confront the young man about his speech. He can even get in his face. None of that is assault until the young man is in immediate apprehension of physical battery or is actually battered.

But the young man kicked off his sandals, wound up and swung on the pastor first, then wound up again and struck the pastor after that first missed strike. That seems to be the start of the PHYSICAL confrontation.

And given the prior behavior and statements of the family, I would tend to believe that this was possibly a setup to provoke the pastor. I can't wait to see the aftermath - Do the charges stick? Will we get a trial? How much will the civil lawsuit attempt to get?

Finally:
6/10 fight video. I kind of want to see what the father could do against the pastor. The son is obviously outclassed at the moment.

I disagree with the entirety of your post, but I’ll respond to this with:

1. That’s not legitimate evidence unless there is a legal record. i.e. Police reports.

2. While we are just spitting in the wind with blind assumption to make slickback sound like he’s just a good ol’ country baw pastor, let’s learn the kid’s story. He may have evidence that will completely flip your opinion the other direction. Even if there was any evidence of threats and whatnot, It isn’t normal for the kid in this scenario to behave the way Spell is alleging (with zero evidence) , for no reason.

At worst, the video shows a kid standing on his side of the street and allegedly shouting words. Not brandishing a weapon. Not anywhere near Spell or his family. He isn’t a threat.

Annoyance, maybe. (Need evidence to know.) possibly even worthy of police charges ( again, need evidence to know)

But isn’t physically threatening to anyone. Isn’t even on Spell’s property. If the cards were reversed and kid ran toward Spell, I would be singing a different tune and say kid needs consequences. It would be a whole different story. That isn’t the case though.
