I live that part of Colorado and will be elk hunting there again. But there, like a lot of areas of Colorado outside the C springs - Boulder corridor, is very, very clannish. Your family had better have been there since the gold rush days if you want to be part of the community.

It’s kind of weird.

Anyone else see the title and think “wow, it’s been 19 years since that episode of king of the hill?”

And then remember it was Billdozer, not killldozer.

Wasn't this guy actually a huge a-hole and the "fed up everyday man" narrative is just bs?

Why the hell did he kill himself, that’s really the only stupid thing he did. He is a national hero. I think they made a movie about this anyway

You will understand it more if you watch the Netflix doc to see just what all of the connected local politicians did to him.

I thought the netflix doc did a good job of showing both sides of the story.

I've read all the books that are out there about the incident and listened to the Heemeyer tapes. Unfortunately many of the books available are written by his detractors.

Heemeyer was certainly a disturbed individual but he was absolutely pushed by these local simpletons who were using their positions in part of the "good ole boy" club to exert their power over him.

With that said even most of his friends said he "spent too much time alone in that cabin" and he kind of fell into a depression/suicidal phase.

It sucks because by many accounts he seemed like a good friend to the people he knew and got along with.

Lastly, whatever you think of the guy you have to admire his commitment.
