Cody D wouldn't allow him to cross his new property and Marv couldn't go through the property to the south because the town had secretly zoned it in 1998,

Cody offered to allow Marv to go through his property for the hookup.

quote:

Their hope was that he'd be forced to sell, which he normally would have been.

He did put the land up for sale. The first time he listed it for 250K. Cody offered to buy it and pay the asking price. Marv told him to frick off. Marv relisted the property for 375K. Cody offered again to buy the land and pay the asking price. Marv, again, told him to frick off.

Marv orginally paid 42K for the property.

Marvin also wasn't broke. He was pretty well off. He dumped roughly 150 thousand dollars into legal fees and expenses in various lawsuits, most of which were bullshite.

Hell, he threatened to sue a guy in the town over a truck he rented the guy. When they made the deal Marv told the guy the truck had problems and he needed to keep an eye on them. When the guy brought the truck back Marv flipped his shite and accused the guy of messing the truck up. He threatened to take him to court if he didn't pay him $800. That was just a couple of years after he bought the property.

In exchange for capituating in court. No thanks.

To them, I mean. He eventually did sell to another company, shortly before he died.

Of course, none of that would have been necessary if the town hadn't illegally zoned the property to the south, behind his back, knowing all they had to do was keep him in the dark for 30 days.

Is that something righteous people do?

I've never said that anyone involved is "righteous", only that Marv was an idiot and not a hero.

But he did say God was what lead him to build the killdozer....gave him the plans and all. So, who am I to argue with God?

Dude nobody cares about the small town council politics or who was a bigger a-hole.

This event is legendary because a dude took a bulldozer, a blowtorch and some scrap metal and built a homemade tank in his garage and then went Wilt Chamberlain 100 point game mode on the FAFO scale.

They could have been bickering over a lemonade stand and we would still be eating popcorn and laughing at this crap.

And nobody need whine or say a word about senseless destruction in 2023. In 2020 we all had to sit back and watch angry mob after angry mob destroy, burn and burglarize shite in every city for six months to the tune of BILLIONS in damage and many needless deaths all because some two but junkie whacked out on fentanyl decided to resist arrest after committing his umpteenth felony. All while the media, the nutjobs and half of the politicians cheered it on.

So yeah, killdozer gets a pass for going out with his tank tracks on.

Oh, he definitely lost his mind. After the company he later sold the property to did a walk through of the building, and didn't see the huge killdozer behind tarps in the corner, he said he thought God wanted him to killdoze everything. (ETA just saw your edit)

The reason he's a folk hero is because it reminds the powers that be that a single man, wronged, can jump up and bite them if he has enough motivation. The government shouldn't be able to frick people over and get away with it. The fact that they fear this kind of shite might be the only reason they don't openly frick us all constantly (ETA: more than they already do).

I guess I just put more weight onto the fact that much of his predicament was from his own doing.

Yeah. At some point, he'd made up his mind and there was no turning back.

?

Dude was completely wrong and screwed by the local government that tried to force him out. I guarantee there was a back room deal with the concrete company and the government.

The crazy thing is the guy lowered the steel cab over him and welded himself inside so he couldn’t get out. He was 100% committed

That wasn’t the point he could of did the whole updated sewage thing but the point he wanted to make was he wasn’t putting up with their crap anymore

If I remember right to update the sewage it had to go through an easement on property belonging to his rival who had the political connections. Also said rival constructed a factory next door and it blocked the access to his business and the city refused to do anything or build him a new access road so he originally bought the dozer to build his own access road. City shut that down and he snapped

Sometimes the story is better than the truth

And sometimes the truth doesn't really matter at all. He destroyed the home of an 80 something year old woman because he hated her two sons. She had been asleep in that home 20 minutes earlier. He destroyed the propane/gas company building because they charged him a chain-up fee (which they also charge who knows how many other people) for delivering his propane to his house......that was in another town. He tried to shoot and blow up one of their huge storage tanks, but only failed because his angle wouldn't allow him to hit it, and the shots hit his own armor instead. If he had blown that up he would have definitely killed people. He went out of his way to run over random people's vehicles in an apartment parking lot who he didn't know and they likely didn't know him.

The truth is, it took very, very little to find yourself on Marv's shite list. This fable of him being some altruistic hero who only went after those who wronged him is complete and total bullshite. In short, sometimes the truth doesn't matter at all.

The idea that he was wronged in some way by the very fact that he had to pay to hook up to the sewer is bullshite, too. The city/town paid for no one's hookup expenses. The property owner, every property owner, was required to foot that bill.

Besides, there was a perfectly reasonable solution to Marv's sewage problem that he just completely ignored. The man who had the skill to build the killdozer, a remarkable machine indeed, evidently didn't have the ability to dig a hole and bury a septic tank. Instead, he chose to shite in a giant above-ground bucket for a decade, a giant bucket in the form of a concrete truck tub that he had to dump whenever it was full. It is likely that the town would have been fine with him using a septic tank (especially given that he was dumping literal shite in ditches like he was living in a third world country), but good ol' Marv had no compromise in him whatsoever.

My favorite part of the killdozer, which make no mistake I love as a machine, was that as a last touch he covered the entire outside with some sort of grease or lube. That was a great touch; I wonder if he or God came up with that idea?

Bruh. I thought we settled this.
quote:

They told him he needed to hook up to the line. It was estimated to be over 100k to do so. The city then allowed him to dispose of waste the way he did, while failing to tell him that he was technically in violation. By the time they mandated he hook up, they'd closed him in with Cody, who demanded he legally capitulate in court, and their illegal zoning to the south.
quote:

evidently didn't have the ability to dig a hole and bury a septic tank.
Not legal for industrial use in Granby, CO. Either way, the dumping situation would not have changed.

Stop it.

Get help.
