Geneva was in my territory and is a small town. I am sure this impacts the entire community and prayers sent to the families. So tragic.
Hopefully the two survivors get through this okay. A guy a year older than me in H.S. was the driver in a car crash that killed one of our classmates. The guilt put him down a dark path for a while.

I remember being a teenager and having 10 people in the cab and 15 in the bed of the truck. Three on the tree so I worked the clutch while the girl next to me shifted. It's a wonder we survived.

Teen drivers should be restricted to one passenger when not accompanied by an adult.
if you feel teens aren't competent enough to drive without an adult, why would you feel they should be allowed to drive at all?

Yep. Had a manual transmission v6 toyota pickup truck in highschool for the same safety reasons you noted.
Still miss that little truck.

Some need to drive to school or work.
Don’t pretend not to know how a car full of teenagers is. There was one or more of the following distractions before the crash, loud music, singing, selfies, Snapchat, or erratic movements in the vehicle. Full capacity vehicles react differently to the controls compared to one passenger.

At least the first two were going to become complete smoke shows.

I just looked back at the photos. At least two of them are posing in front of a Christmas tree. Frick.

That's horrible.
We're they just driving too fast and lose control?

God be with their families. This is terrible. There is nothing worse than losing your child

Yeah unfortunately for him a lot of people saw it. Damn Vol, that’s a new low on this board and that’s saying a lot.

but ya gotta draw the line somewhere, and i think 18 should be the minimum age to drive, at least.

Talking about something like this.
Shite, back in my day we would have just put extra friends in the back of the truck, hooping and hollering, while cramming as many in the front as possible.. it would have been zero percent safer than having a truck with a double cab, access cab or extra cab.
Then again, i grew up in kind of a redneck area.

More likely distracted. Trying to play with radio or phones

My dad told me that if he caught me trying anything like that, he would beat my arse so hard and take the truck away until I could afford to move out of his house and/or buy another car and the insurance along with it.
I never tried anything like that and I love my father so dearly today. I will be doing the same thing with my kids vehicles that he did with me.

Very sad. Every parents nightmare is getting that call or knock on the door.
Working in Law Enforcement and having to do notifications to families is actually the toughest part of the job. Serving warrants and encountering high risk situations are not as stressful. Although I've seen many things I remember and wish I didn't nothing is as tough as the reactions of the families !!!
