This brings back memories of my own sister’s death in an accident in October 1990.

A couple months later 3 of her classmates also died in an accident coming back from Christmas shopping in Lafayette.

It was not a good year for our small town.

Man, I hate hearing these stories. There is something about HS kids getting killed that just doesn't seem natural. I know that doesn't make sense, because anything can happen to anyone at any time, but at that age, they are only a few years away from starting to experience living...

Far too common? What are the stats? You said it, back it up. How many times a year does a car with 3 or more teens arrive safely? How many times a year does a car with 3 or more teens end in death?

Who is most at risk? The risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among teens aged 16-19 than among any other age group. In fact, per mile driven, teen drivers in this age group are nearly three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash.2 Teens who are at especially high risk for motor vehicle crashes are: Male In 2017, the motor vehicle death rate for male drivers aged 16-19 was over two times higher than the death rate for female drivers of the same age.2 Teens driving with teen passengers The presence of teen passengers increases the crash risk of unsupervised teen drivers. This risk increases with increased numbers of teen passengers.4,5 Newly licensed teens Crash risk is particularly high during the first months of licensure.6,7 Data from the 2017 National Household Travel Survey indicate that the crash rate per mile

They need to start showing the brutal aftermath of these wrecks in drivers ed classes. Not just the wrecked cars, they need to start showing the photos of the mutilated bodies to prove to young people that they are not invincible. After I saw Porsche girl I instantly payed more attention to my driving and slowed the frick down.

Had a 17 year old relative get ticketed for 110 mph a few weeks back. Had a car full of kids.

Told her an old friend of mine, J C, said thanks.

She asked why. I told her since J committed suicide way back when I was a teenager I have thought he was the stupidest person ever to live (given the circumstances). His place has now been replaced. She didn't laugh.

Prayers for the families.

Yep. What a loser that guy is.

Prayers up for those families. I can’t fathom what they are going through. Rest In Peace to those young girls. Awful tragedy.
