We have one. It works as advertised. No complaints.

I have one of those “friends” that isn’t really a friend, but your wife is best friends with their wife so you’re forced to hang out with them that drives a 2021 Ascent Touring.
It’s pretty nice. Better ground clearance than I expected.

If I was looking at that SUV class, give me the Bronco Sport.

Great car.
Stigma makes it impossible to not feel shame in owning.

Get a newer Limited with the 6-cyl. Lovely cars and are surprisingly capable off-road.

Pfft. Everyone knows “Coexist” stickers go on Forresters, not Outbacks ;)
I just turned 240K on our Outback after 17 years of ownership (it’s the 2002 2.5L). It absolutely loves To eat up the snow and rain. Not a single lick of rust, the interior is nearly perfect, and it’s still going super strong. We’re about to pass it down to our teenage sons to drive.
We’re looking at getting another Outback next year.

So we have a Subaru Crosstrek that my hubby drives and he loves it. I love that it brought our insurance down $150 a month. Subaru’s have the eyesight thing and they’re great to insure!

You would fit in nicely amongst the hordes of Uptown Nola transplants from California or New England.

I've got one. Everything you say is true. It's a great car at a reasonable (not great, unfortunately) price for its type. I doubt I'll ever own another non-Subaru. Also, Outbacks are assembled a couple miles from my house so you'll be helping keep my neighbors' jobs. Thanks!

We have one and love it. Previously owned the Lexus SUV. The Lexus has a bit more pick up, but the performance/handling isn’t even close.

Toyota basically owns subaru.

Great vehicle with excellent resell value.

My mom still has a 2003 with over 200K. They are good cars. But the gas efficiency isnt that great. At least on hers. And you have to use premium gas or it will definitely frick up the engine. That may be different on newer ones though.

When I went to Colorado they were everywhere. I finally asked someone what's the deal with all the outbacks. He said it was the best car you could get for the price the terraine with all the crazy weather.

your buddy is full of shite and/or never actually used his truck bed.
I went from a full sized truck to an outback. I liked it fine but missed the utility of a truck bed and went back to a truck when the subaru started giving me problems. It was awesome in the snow though.

I traded an older, high mileage full sized pickup (Silverado) for the Outback. I had gotten to the point where I no longer used the bed of the pickup, but still needed four wheel traction.
The Outback has been excellent. It pulls a trailer, but I really miss my truck sometimes. It had more character.

Outback owners value reliability and resale value. They don't often cross shop Ford products.

There's a good reason you still see a lot of old arse outbacks and forresters on the road.
The Outback is a great vehicle. Subaru is a little behind on their infotainment offerings, but their vehicles should have enough for the common man. They spend more time perfecting everything else in the car that really matters.
From what you posted, it sounds like a car that would fit your needs.
