Weird situation because you cant let everyone take measures into their own hands but the guy shouldn't be looked at the same as a cold blooded murderer.
There should be a category for people who go after "revenge" / "Vengeance" types of crimes.

Followed this from the beginning being here in Zachary. I really thought the guy was going to get manslaughter. Nothing about what he did is right. The life he took is certainly not one society will miss. I read the police reports from Noce's case. Anyone who hasn't, do yourself a favor and don't seek them out.
I have a huge problem with Noce being given 10 years probation for what he did (allegedly). Crehan getting life for this doesn't seem "just."

One thought that keeps going through my mind is what could happen if Crahan was allowed to walk free. There has been several threads on here in the last month or so about the #metoo saga and I remember one thread in the last day or so suggested that 90% rape accusations were false. Now clearly, the accused molester in this case was guilty as sin. BUT, what about future cases if this precedent was set? It would only be a matter of time until some woman claimed rape, her husband went out in search of the guy and killed him, only for the facts later to show it wasn't a 'rape' to begin with. Then what? The husband honestly thought she was forcibly raped, but she wasn't or the accusation was cloudy at best. What is that guy guilty of? There is nothing separating him from Crehan except a lying bitch as the 'victim'. In my opinion, that's why Crehan had to be punished in some fashion. Like many of ya'll, I do not believe life in prison is justice in this SPECIFIC case.

Probably so yes. There are repurcussions down the line. Including people using made up transgressions as an excuse for murder.

It's like that case a few months ago where the guy was convicted of raping that young girl, who lived down the street from him. Even after he was found guilty, she let him go home, supposedly to be with his mom, until his sentencing. She allowed that knowing the poor little girl that he raped still lived right down the road from that sick frick. And, IIRC, what he got convicted of carried a mandatory 25 to life.
I just don't understand how she can live with herself. It's one thing to want reform in our justice system. However, to take things in your own hands and let rapists, murderers and other violent criminals go with just a slap on the wrist is bullshite. Especially, when they're repeat offenders. It's just sickening.
It's one thing to do it with drug offenders, but violent criminals, rapists, molesters, etc, is just fricking sick.

Still murder - the concept is "jury nullification" - not absolute innocence or guilt.
There is a related concept in law if you're interested:
(hypothetically, of course) Ace Midnight rolls up on an apparent mugging. The (just for completeness sake, black) perpetrator is holding a gun to a (again, black) citizen's head, with said citizen pushed up against a brick wall. Perpetrator is quickly going through the citizen's pockets.
Now - Ace Midnight reasonably believes that citizen's life is in danger and shoots the perpetrator.
Under many jurisdiction's interpretation, Ace Midnight is lawfully allowed to exercise another's right of self-defense for that other person - but usually bears the risk of error.
Back to my example - perpetrator is dead and citizen runs off quickly. Due to error, Ace has shot and killed an undercover police officer. In Louisiana, for example, Ace potentially faces the death penalty.
Now - it's highly, highly unlikely that he will get the death penalty under those facts, assuming he establishes that he didn't know anything about the encounter other than what he saw. But I bet he doesn't walk away with no time, either.
