Thoughts on Jace Crehan murder trial...

I'm sure most of ya'll are familiar with the Jace Crehan murder trial. Long story short, his pregnant girlfriend was molested for years by her moms ex boyfriend when she was young. Charges were brought against him and Trudy White let him off with 5 years probation. 10 days later, Jace and his girlfriend break into his trailer and stab and strangle him to death. Girlfriends pleads to manslaughter, he's facing 2nd degree murder charges...

So, what are your honest thoughts on this. Not your reactionary thoughts, but complete rational thoughts. I'm sure initially everyone's first thoughts are 'frick that pervert, I'm glad they killed him. The made the world a better place. That's always my initial thoughts.
There is no rehabilitating those sick monsters and they need to die for their actions. But upon thinking it through, that does set a dangerous precedent. Vigilantly justice would get out of hand very quick and we can't just go around killing people that wronged us, even if they deserve it. We can't just leave everyone to their own devices to decide who deserves to die for their actions. My opinion is that Jace should face some type of consequence, but does not deserve life in prison. I can't help but consider that the molestations occurred several years before and it's not like he killed the guy to rescue her from future molestation. She was now an adult and was not in the same household as him, nor would she have any reason to be around him in the future. Does that matter to you? Should he also be given probation and another chance? He had no violent crimes that we know about in the past. I think I would be ok with him receiving 5 years for manslaughter and serving a 2-3 years then released on parole. In his mind (right or wrong), he was protecting his family and his new son about to be brought into this world. I'm glad the molester is dead, just wish there was another way Jace and his girlfriend could have served justice.
