Beautiful and every day is a postcard photo in the Rockies. If you're from Louisiana learn to pack your vehicle with a few survival items (water, protein bars, survival blanket, hand warmers, small shovel, snow chains, etc.) for the winter months. Lived there for a couple of years and a whiteout is tough!!! Especially if you leave the road and get stuck for hours in the cold. Awesome for sports junkies too. Five pro franchises in one city.

This. It will take a little time to acclimate because when I first got there I was out of breath walking across a long parking lot! Your body will adapt within a couple of weeks but initially you can get some headaches, no kidding.

knocked me on my arse, but I also had the flu, flew straight from sea level to Denver, and then took a shuttle up to 9k feet in the mountains all in an afternoon.

I was stationed in Denver while in the Air Force. I loved it and wish I had not accepted an assignment to California. I'd probably still be living there, even after retirement.

Son attends Mines in Golden. Awesome place. You feel like you’re in a small town there, but plenty to do in Denver whenever you want.
Great beer. World class skiing. Great big game hunting and fly fishing. What’s not to like?

I love it out here.
Housing is ridiculous and traffic is a nightmare but it's all worth it when your an hour away from world class skiing and hiking.
Also, there's a Canes in Highlands Ranch. Bayou Bob's and Lucile's have legit creole and Cajun cuisine.
Tons a craft beer around if that's your thing.
Good size LSU Alumni base here as well.

Only been once but had a great time. Driving distance to a lot of cool places. Not into skiing (and i was there in late September) but we went to Boulder, red rocks, and the Stanley the 3 days we were there. Stayed near mile high. The train station was legit too.
