very interesting spin

What spin? When you need protection, the police aren’t there.

Last year someone tried to break into my place. It took BRPD 2 hours to respond.

I’d rather not depend on someone who isn’t there when I need them.

If this played out the way it sounds like it did, are there any examples of larger LEO failures?

its an active shooter, it doesn't matter

Unfrickingbelivable! I'm not one normally prone to anger, but this brings a rage up inside of me that I haven't felt in a while. I don't understand how anyone can sit around and wait in a situation like this.

If you can view that timeline and come away with any emotion other than rage, you may be a psychopath.

I’m with you. I’m generally anti fed but the DOJ needs to come in and arrest everyone until they can tell the truth instead of passing the buck around.

At approximately 12:43 and 12:47, she asked 911 to please send the police now.

And the mother frickers had just been sitting there.

This is mind boggling. I hope everyone of those motherfrickers in that department kill themselves over the guilt.

They thought it wasnt an active shooter? WHAT THE frick? "We thought he killed all the kids so no one was in danger"

Cops had 3 ballistic shields

How well does a ballistic shield stand up to a .223 round?

I find it really strange that we've had several these take place where the local police seemingly allowed it to happen. That's just too much for my Asperger's to process without thinking that at some point they WANTED it to be bad.

or maybe the effort to cultivate policies to reign in "hard charging" cops has fostered the opposite (and worse) result of an organization that was impotent when it needed to be its most potent. I'm not defending them because their actions appear to be indefensible. Their response was despicable, but its not unimaginable given how pussified law enforcement policies have become.

But on an individual level, how all these dudes stood around hearing the shooting and had no primitive, visceral urge to intervene is unfathomable. Have we derided "masculinity" to the point that some (like these guys) cannot muster the courage to save a child? Let alone children?

I hope the citizenry of Uvalde and all surrounding towns make it extremely uncomfortable for all the cops involved to continue living there.

What fricking cowards.

With tactical gear, weapons, & partners it obviously worked very well.

It’s very telling to me that it appears that the local yokels were ordered to stand down by the “federal” marshals on site. There is no way in Hell, TSHP officers or Texas Rangers would have stood down for a second.

ETA

City council needs to call a special session and cut their fricking budget.

So you're saying defund the police?

I don't know if we will ever get a straight answer for that unless there is video / audio. You have to always assume that there may be kids still alive in there and you need to take out the threat ASAP.

There is video. There was a guy that lived across the street and he set up a camera and recorded. It will likely hit the news at some point but at 25-30 minutes in you can still hear shots. Also at that point, there are plenty of cops there.

put up a field of suppressive fire so intense he couldn't move or get shot until someone could shoot him.

Wouldn't the risk of killing more children be too high to use that tactic.

Doing exactly this would've been better than sitting on your fricking arse and listening to kids get murdered and their parents screaming at you to go in there and get them out.

frick those cops. They'd have been better off giving their weapons to the parents.

I haven’t see this talked about. What was the layout? Were they really sitting in the hall planning a door breach when they could have broken/shot through a freaking window?

I don’t want to believe there’s a conspiracy

I can see some plausibility were the kid was sought for an attack and provided with guns and ammo.

I don’t know how you randomly get 90% (or more) of a police force, and maybe some state LEO’s, to lay down and let some guy kill 19 kids and 2 adults, some of which may be relatives, friends, etc.

Nobody could come to me with any incentive and get me to agree, and I think I speak for millions of folks.
