I'm local for 40 years and I've never seen that before in my life nor have I heard anyone talking about it. Very odd

It's okay that Ruston is getting a Buc-ee's, you don't have to Google Maps every pothole and light pole in the city to make you feel better.
Maybe some thread with pictures from Monroe 40 plus years ago will help you cope better.

There used to be a one lane bridge over the Red River in Colfax. You had to wait for the green light to cross.

Locals know about it. If anyone hits it, it’ll be an out of town person. They’ll be responsible for damages, which Ruston will use to pay for moving and upgrading pole. Sounds like a win for Ruston.

I like the way you think.

I don't recall a Red River bridge in Colfax. Nearby Boyce has one, and the old one (replaced in 80s/90s) was very narrow. I remember having to back up when a truck was coming from the other way, but I don't recall a red light. May have come along after my time in the area.

Coushatta's old bridge did have red lights in the 80s, for the last several years before replacement in the early 90s. It was 2-lane, but due to damage from trucks in the 80s it went one-lane-at-a-time with red lights at each end. State troopers were at each end 24 hours a day for a long time, there to keep the trucks off and avoid more damage. The light cycle was about 4 minutes of torture.

The locals say they actually drive MORE carefully when they’ve been drinking.

I’ve lived in Ruston most of my life and I’ve never seen that.
