I’ll answer the only question you asked. Yes, he deserved to die for stealing the car, and THEN he proceeded to use it as a deadly weapon. Bye Felicia

You people are just ignorant or willfully stupid.

It's not rocket science go watch the video again and if you have functioning brain cell and the ability to pause the video you'll see the officer had his weapon drawn as he enters the dash cam video from the left side.

This first shot is fired at 0:47 time mark. The officer is clearly on the drivers side of the car.

Second shot is fired still at the 0:47 mark and you can clearly see the spent casing eject up and over the officers riget shoulder. Officer is still on drivers side of the car closer to the front bumper.

Third shot fires at the 0:48 time mark as the officer stands clearly to the of the car almost in front.

0:49 time mark officer steps in front of the car and fires a 4th shot while activating his chest radio with his left hand. this is when the driver accelerates and the officer goes up on the hood and continues firing.

Jesus people just watch the video and stop looking for an internet argument.

You’re still salty about that Mardi Gras video? This dude drove his car at the cop. I don’t know a single person who would not support the cop here

Stop paying garbage to have babies....

"Mom", you raised a piece of garbage and he's dead because he's no good.

Should stealing a car be a death sentence....sure, why not....I'm over thugs and meth-heads ruining lives.

Black, White, boy, girl, young, old don't give a damn when I see a criminal die in the commission of a crime.

Read what I said. Watch the video again. In the position the cop is in when he fires the first shot (standing on the side of the car as it would have driven past him), it is physically impossible for the car to hit him, unless the driver backs up and makes another attempt, or the cop moves in front of the car, which is what he did. He's standing by the front wheel well. The cop is not standing in front of the car when he fires the first shot. So I don't feel the argument can be made, that he fired in fear of being run over, and I'm sure that will be the basis of the family's argument. It would have been physically impossible for the cop to be run over if he stood still from where he fired the first shot. So saying the driver was using the car as a weapon, as justification for the first shot, is not credible to me. I think he was trying to drive off, past the standing cop. If the cop's counter argument is that it appeared he was reaching for a weapon (apparently there was one), or that the passenger's life, or someone else's life was in danger by letting him proceed, that's great. All are likely and credible assertions and I hope they hold up.

He says from the safety of his keyboard, not facing down a piece of garbage with multiple felonies in a stolen car.

You see, you have the benefit of not having to deal with violent garbage every day, so you have no idea what was going thru the officers' head at the time.

Totally agree, really. I almost said as much. Just pointing out what the other side's argument will be.

Honestly. I've no sympathy for the dude but this is just false

He started driving and the cop moved in front of him

Sorry, but at this point, the other sides' arguments are all a joke.

Time after time we've seen incidents with video evidence which would never be disputed by any decent, sane person, only to see the Moms' lawyer up, look straight into the camera and say "he was a good boy....."

Many of us are just out of give a zhit at this point.

I'll also add that we can't see what happened before the shooting came into frame. He may have only came to be standing on the side of the car after being pushed aside by the front of the car (as it was being used a weapon), before coming into frame. That's plausible too.

Well yeah

But THEN, he's no longer a threat to be hit and moves in front of the ALREADY MOVING car(again in your hypothetical)

They often aren't and there's always more information than can be seen on a dash cam video, but you know what?

Here are the steps to avoid being shot by a cop:

1) don't steal a car
2) obey the commands from the officer
3) understand that police officers have an INCREDIBLY stressful job and are often put in high risk situations where they have to make tough decisions - make their job easy and you'll be fine
