No, they deserve to die when they are in the process of committing a felony and then decide to drive the stolen vehicle in the direction of a cop with his gun drawn that has repeatedly told him to get out the car.

LV Cop Shoots Through Windshield While Driving

Still one of the best I have seen. Just a reminder how badass some of these guys really are.

I rewatched the video.
The cop got in front of the car first, car started rolling. Cop started shooting.

The cop stepping in front of the car was extremely dangerous, and if Im a police chief I would tell my guys that is not advisable.
Maybe the guy was not trying to run over the cop, but make a clean get-a-way. It wouldn't matter, the cop had a very reasonable fear for his lifr once that car started moving slowly into him. If the perp wanted to get away he should have put car in reverse, not drive.

You can love and support this hypothetical kid, but you can still be rational enough to realize that the cop was justified.

A lady at my works brother was killed by police. He was fighting with the police and reached for the officers gun. She loves her brother and misses him, but understands why the cop shot.

I’m surprised by the lack of emotion from the girl with him.

She almost got lit up by the cop vehicle crashing into her door.

It does seem rare for a cop to start firing like that with a moving vehicle, but that cop wasn’t letting him go any where. It’s weird to me, why didn’t the guy just floor it? He slowly went forward. Maybe limited area? I only watched one time though, I’m good. Strange situation all around.

Absolutely not. But does a person deserve to die for attempting to run over a police officer. While I dont like saying people deserve to die, the cop is 100% justified, and it would be hard to argue otherwise.

I dont mind calling out LE. I can be very critical of them on this board. But this situatiom is clear they did nothint wrong.

Ehhh, I'm all about loving LE and hating on criminal assholes, but does a person deserve to die over a stolen car? I get that we put different values on life depending on who's life that is.

He didn't die b/c he stole a car.
He died b/c he refused to follow a police officers orders, then tried to run over him while brandishing a gun. You guys did hear the officer say he had a gun right? it's in the subtitles if you're deaf.

There are consequences to your actions. when someone is pointing a gun at you, that's not the time to try to be billy badass and ignore him. Doesn't matter if you think you are right or wrong.
My kids ask me why they can't play outside when it's raining and there is thunder, and I explain to them the outcome if something bad happens is death, and that's not an acceptable risk to take when death is the outcome.
This dumbass took a risk where the outcome could be death, and he died. If you don't want to die, listen and obey what the guy with the gun is telling you to do.

Oh, I'm not arguing it wasn't justified. It was absolutely justified. I have a tendency to put zero value on human life when it involves a shithole like this car thief.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing sometimes.

Like I said, I think the world is better off without this guy walking around.

Statement from the family lawyer:
quote:

"You will see a video of this murder, and in this video, you will not see an officer who was scared for his life," Shukur said. "Instead, you will see a predator who stepped in front of a car to kill his prey. But what Starks will soon realize is that Mr. Blackshire was not his prey. He was a brother. He was a father of five. He was a son. He was the loved one of a family that now has the determination, the resources, and the will to zealously prosecute the unlawful, unconstitutional and criminal actions of Starks."

and from the mother:

quote:

"Where is the support that they say that the police has in place for mourning families?" she asked. "I’m a taxpayer. … This is where our dollars go, but we’ve not seen any of these resources that they say are in place for families. I can only imagine what all of the other families have [gone] through. I’m just calling on our community leaders, somebody, help us. Somebody give us some answers, because we don’t have any, and nobody seems to want to give us any."

The family of the 30-year-old watched the video before it was released to the public, FOX16 reported.

In a statement released through an attorney, the family said: "The video confirms our assessment that Charles Starks employed an unreasonable and excessive amount of force."

Gotta start the narrative for the lawsuit early on.

She's lucky she's not a small-to-medium sized dog or he would have shot her first.
