You break the law, your arse goes to a 3rd world Central American prison. I don’t think 3 hots and a cot means the same thing down there.

Surrounded by MS13 gang members in Central America stacked like cattle without AC?

Their prisons make our prisons look like a spa.

I don't think you must have dual citizenship or consent to it. I met a guy in Thailand who overstayed his tourist visa and was put in jail until he was able to get family to send money to pay the - hefty - fine. He was from England, but I'm pretty sure it applies to Americans as well. From what he said, you do not want to be put in jail in Thailand.

what if it isn’t American citizens we’re sending, but undocumented illegal immigrants with as much as a moving violation?

The problem is that the Constitution puts very little emphasis on citizens of the US. That is why we are currently having the set of "can illegals own guns set of cases."

The Constitution doesn't mention US citizens except in regards to who can hold certain federal offices until the 14th amendment in total it only talks about citizens in the aforementioned situation, the inability for States to abridged the rights of US citizens, and voting rights. The fact it differentiates in those instances is a solid strict construction argument that they are the only parts that apply to US citizens only.

IMO you can arrest them and deport them, deport them with PNG status, or you can try, convict, and punish them for the crime of illegally entering the US and any other crimes they committed. However, if you choose to try them the process and punishment have to be in line with the requirements of the Constitution. You can certainly deport them after any sentence is served.

Consider a scenario that 4 years from now, the Democrats take back power in Washington. They lost 51%-48% and that was their worst showing in literally 2 decades.

While to many of you it may be distasteful or inconceivable, still take the time to consider it. However, low the chances may be, let us assume for a minute that they still have a theoretical chance.

Then they decide to take retribution and grab some of you baws and send them to serve a lengthy sentence in a Iranian prison on some trumped up charges. Would you like it? They hate Americans there and the Salvadorians are angels compared to what the Iranians would do to an American citizen.

The problem with a "eye for a eye" is that it leaves the whole world blind. Also what goes around comes around.

So let the law, the constitution and the justice system work. It has served us all very well for 248 years. It safeguards the honest, the innocent and has done well bringing those guilty to justice.

That's a good trade right there. I bet North Korea would do it cheaper. I ask for a few estimates from African countries before I paid too much.

It damn sure is, and would serve as a serious deterrent one would think.

I would rather be dead than locked up under those conditions.

We already have Guantanamo and Diego Garcia. Why would we pay El Salvador a single colon?

This is a fantastic idea. The main reason Mexican Drug Cartels are notoriously violent is because there is no real criminal justice system in Mexico....most cases are tried in the street and the strongest army wins. No reason we should not treat our criminals the same way....no doubt it will increase violence exponentially...better to fight it out in the streets than face a Cental American prison sentence...but what's a significant increase in violence in the street when you are making people feel good????

Also a fantastic idea to hand criminals from the states over to less than credible prisons where it will be easier to buy their way out of prison.....

I don’t think wing nuts can think that far. democrats and republicans whine non-stop about EO when the other side does it but when it comes time to have their side in office they don’t care

Man, what’s in it for them though? I know they are getting a “fee”, but it sounds like it’s to balance the books in the prison. Unless the “fee” goes wayyy further than just that.

B) its a revenue stream
C) it costs them basically nothing
D) I think Bukele is amused by the whole situation

It doesn't, because they only get two meals a day down there.

Win win. And they would probably ever run out of room for more prisoners wink wink.
