We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted U.S. citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee.

The fee would be relatively low for the U.S. but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable.

Nah, I'm good.

American prisons would be worse for pedophiles. They don't allow the option for violence in these new El Salvador prisons. They are stripped of all independence.

I am specifically referring to US citizens.

I’d be shitting bricks if I was an American who was to be sent there.

Probably can’t send US citizens to serve a sentence over there.

Foreign offenders in the US? I’d say to send them to a Salvadoran prison if their own country refuses to take them back.

I have no argument against that.

Sending US citizens somewhere it’s functionally impossible for their families to stay connected with them would almost certainly run afoul of constitutional scrutiny.

Yeah this will never happen. Prison is big business and all of these companies that own private prisons will lobby the shite out of making sure this doesn't happen.

If this were to actually happen (however unlikely it is), you should be shitting bricks whether you're one who would be sent there or not.

To my knowledge visitation is not a “right” and can be suspended or revoked entirely. So I’m not sure this is the issue you think it is. There are far worse issues with this.

My understanding is for MS13 and other cartel / gang associated illegals.

They aren’t citizens of our country so they shouldn’t be afforded any rights.

US Supermax prisons have very restrictive visitor rules.

I don't know that the ability to have visitors is a legal requirement.
