What exactly should we have done differently? We were stuck at home 2 months early on, and the virus didn’t disappear.

Here. This link has a pdf file of the pandemic playbook that shows exactly what should have been done.

He doesn’t have the power to shut everything down.

I know you don’t seriously believe this. If you do then you need to lock yourself indoors by yourself. That way you will not get infected by someone or god forbid you infect someone else

Most of this board thinks wearing a mask violates the constitution, how the hell would you mandate quarantines?

Its true - we were shockingly unprepared and vulnerable. Thank god COVID-19 turned out not to be that bad.

No.We would be in a worse situatiion. Remember we essentially did what amounted to a 2 month lockdown from Mid March to Mid May. Mask mandates became the rage around the third week of June when the "second wave" came. What would you have suggested a 65% population shutdown? If you do, then you sir, madam are a twit and a dangerously stupid one at that.Forget Trump, etc. if you had kept everything totally shutdown you would have bigger problems on your hands than what amount to 15 people per day per state dying to a suped up influenza.

We shut down EVERYTHING in March and APRIL other than "essential" services. Restaurants were obliterated and small merchants got a big fat hot pole up the rectum as we attempted to "flatten" the curve. Then we wete told we needed to get deaths down...we did. You wanted expanded testing, we got that done ad well to the extent that we have tested what amounts to 32% of the population "on demand" We have mask mandates, we have "social distancing" tech companies like Zoom are making a ransom. We kept our kids out of school for 6 mos. We allowed governors to act like mini Caesars that allowed them to effective bankrupt small business. Then we allowed them to politicize a perfectly useful drug.....oh yeah, and allowed our elected officials start a low grade revolution in the streets of our major cities.

Asshoe....you don't think we allowed the "experts" to do enough?

this is a lie that just keeps being spread

just look at the resurgence in Europe when they opened things up. you think the economy would be doing OK if we had a nationwide lockdown from March to October?

Quarantining sick people doesn't violate the constitution. Quarantining healthy people does.

If only there was a president who didn't ignore this for over a month and didn't get rid of the "pandemic playbook" in 2017 this could have been contained when it first got into the US.

How do you contain a virus? Do you think a virus can be isolated and contained from ever escaping to the population?

Isolate people who have it until they are no longer contagious

And if the media were doing their jobs and were not part of the conspiracy to influence the election... because let’s be clear that’s what this is really about... they’d actually report on all this crap.

You don't even know what you mean by this statement. Just a mindless drone robotically repeating Chinese talking points.

I am genuinely curious about how you think the constitution applies differently to people based on the condition of their health

Liberal policies are pushed and passed in times of struggle. The sheep seek protection from big gov. It’s in the left’s best interest to push chaos.
They see destroying people’s lives as collateral damage to building their utopia.
