Parents who are losing the battle against their children's Fortnite addiction are turning to professionals.

Desperate to see some semblance of the child they had before the post-apocalyptic shooter game, parents are forcing kids into rehab, reports Bloomberg.

Played by more than 200 million users, the Epic Games Inc. creation is free to play yet has made at least $1.2 billion on the sale of the V-Bucks, the in-game currency.

Michigan mom Debbie Vitany said in the article that her son Carson, 17, has been logging into play Fortnite up to 12 hours a day.

His grades have nose-dived. And teachers have complained he's fallen asleep in class.

Like most things in life, the issues surrounding Fortnite's pull are complicated.

While I believe parents need to do whatever it takes so their kids aren't playing 12 hours a day, including throwing the game and console in the trash, I also know this:

Sometimes parents and their children need a little professional help to solve their problems. And that's never wrong.

You don't try and get respect and control from teenagers.

You instill that from toddler up.

Pro tip to all you terrible parents.

Your JOB is NOT to be their friend. It is to be their PARENT.

The harder and stricter you are, the more structure you have..... the more they will actually love and respect you.

Or just keep telling them how special they are, and giving in to every temper tantrum.

Vitamin N. Give them some MOTHERfrickING VITAMIN (N)o.

It's too late for most of you losers. To those with young kids, HEED MY ADVISE. Savor my words. Use them in life.

I can't understand the fascination with Fortnite. It's the worst fps I've ever played and I've played a ton starting with the original Wolfenstein 3D for DOS.

It's likely due to the social aspect of it along with a feeling of being part of something "bigger" since the game is so popular among a lot of recognized gamers and vloggers.

But if your kid is playing video games 12 hours per day, that's on you as a parent. If it's negatively affecting their education, take that shite away.

My son started turning into a fortnight addict. He would wine and complain about schoolwork, chores, etc. After a few warnings, I just unplugged the ps4 and put it away about 6-8 months ago. He complained for a week or so then went about life as usual.

HAHHA, looks like your parents didn't heed my advise.

Newsflash, if you end up having just 1/4 of the amazing life that I have, you will be one happy motherfricker.

At least my name is cool, yours either means you're a pseudo intellectual EE wanna be, or more than likely a Dungeons and dragons tool.

Goodluck, Electric Wizard!

No it's not. You take the game system away until their grades pull up or behavior changes. You also have to replace that empty time with something else (chores, sports, etc). If that does not occur, the system gets sold and the child cannot go to any of their friends' homes that may have the game.

It's called discipline.

Easy fix.

Be the parent. Set limits.

It’s not that hard.

Jesus Christ people.

Don’t have kids if you can’t parent them.
