I was about to point that out, but to be fair, the ratio of women to men getting busted for this has got to be astronomical.

James Blasingime, 57, another HISD employee who resigned, was also arrested recently. Online jail records show he faces a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child for an alleged offense that occurred in May 2018.

Blasingime was arrested on March 6, 2025, by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

A spokeswoman for the school district said Blasingime was hired in 2018 but there were no known allegations or arrests on records relating to this matter, and the allegations for this incident are unrelated to the school district.

“Upon learning of the arrest, the district took immediate action to ensure that Mr. Blasingime did not return to the workplace. While this is a personal legal matter, we recognize the importance of transparency and accountability to our community,” said Huntsville ISD Public Information Officer Shannon Hollis.

During Wednesday’s school board meeting, the district also officially terminated Eric Buchek, a Huntsville High School teacher, who was arrested for an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.

HPD Lieutenant Wade Roberts confirmed that detectives launched an investigation after being notified by the school district, “Our detectives investigated the matter and were able to substantiate the allegation through interviews and by gathering evidence. Once they did so, Eric William Buchek was arrested and charged with one count of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.”

Buchek, 42, was released from jail on a $7,500 bond.

The school district has also addressed misinformation circulating online, clarifying that Buchek was a high school teacher and not a fifth-grade teacher, as had been spread on social media.


In another case, Demondrae Murray, 34; a middle school teacher, was also fired by the school district following his arrest on March 19 for Solicitation of Prostitution.

According to police, Murray left his campus during school hours to meet a sex worker at a hotel along I-45. His arrest was part of a joint operation between HPD and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Investigations targeting prostitution and human trafficking.

“Murray’s arrest was part of a broader operation. It was during the school day, and he left his campus for the encounter,” Lt. Roberts shared.

Following his arrest, Huntsville ISD took immediate action to prevent him from returning to campus.

“District administration takes this matter very seriously and is committed to upholding high standards of integrity and responsibility among our staff. Upon becoming aware of the incident, the district took immediate action to ensure the teacher did not return to campus. While this situation is a personnel matter, we recognize that our community expects accountability and transparency from those who serve our students,” assured Hollis.

Murray was one of six men arrested in the prostitution sting operation. Others taken into custody included Miguel Ramirez-Casa, Emmanuel Arroyo, Irvin Dominguez, Tirrell Reed, and Justin Murphy.
